Returning to the Gym Safely

by Neighborhood Trainers Finding a trainer is a personal choice

As states slowly begin to roll back on their COVID-19 restrictions, workout enthusiasts everywhere have been excited for the reopening of their favorite gyms. If you’re one of the millions of Americans who have been itching to return to the gym, you might now be presented that chance depending on which state you live in.

For New Yorkers, gyms were cleared for reopening on September 2. There are still some restrictions, though, which could still keep people from returning to their pre-coronavirus workout activities.

What Restrictions Will Be in Place?

If you are planning on going back to the gym, you’re going to be looking at a number of things that weren’t in place before. Here are some of the restrictions you can expect to be in place for some time as businesses everywhere continue to adapt to dealing with COVID-19 and doing business safely.

·         Social distancing and masks while in the gym will still be mandatory.

·         Shower areas in the gyms are supposed to stay closed, but they can maintain use of individual showers so long as they are kept clean.

·         Gym customers will have to sign in with their contact information and have a health screen.

You should also remember that gyms are only going to be open in limited capacities, which means they will only be letting so many people in at a time and shared indoor classes aren’t allowed yet.

Alternatives to the Gym

What if you don’t want to deal with all of that hassle? What if you participate in a class with your personal training New York City professional? There are alternatives available.

You could consider going and finding an outdoor personal training class, where social distancing from each other is easy, and being outside in the fresh and open air can be a refreshing change of pace from doing your workouts inside.

If you still aren’t ready to be around people, you could also do your workouts with NY personal trainers online. Many trainers are still going to be offering online classes, and the right trainer will be able to help you figure out the perfect workout routine for you, all from the convenience of your smartphone, tablet, or computer.

Ready to get your workout on? If you’re ready, you can head back to the gym if yours has reopened. If not, you can always consider these alternatives to continue to get your daily workout in.
