Resolve HP Printer Not Detected During Installation

Steps to resolve printer not detected during installation

 

Step 1: Cable & Connection

Before you begin please confirm the following requirements to fix the problem.

  1. First, make sure that the printer cable is working and not damaged.

  2. Try to connect with a different USB or port on your computer/PC

  3. Please make sure that the machine is turned ON and in a ready state.

  4. Make sure that the USB is cable less than 3 m (9 ft 10 in) in length.

  5. Make sure that the device is not connected through a USB hub or docking station, the printer might not receive enough power to properly operate. There is an available USB port on your computer try to connect through it.

Step 2: Try again to setup printer

Delete all the previously installed printer versions of printers from Windows and try again to setup printer and driver installation via USB connection.

  1. Disconnect the printer USB cable from the computer as well as from the printer. Do not reconnect the cable until prompted during installation.

  2. Go to control panel by clicking on the start menu and then click the Devices and Printers

  3. Right-click the icon for your printer model, and then select the option Remove device. If multiple printers exist, remove all of them.

  4. Close the Devices and Printers window, and check for the error again. If the issue persists, please move to the next step.

 

Step 3: Install the driver and set up the connection

Download and install the best available driver to complete the USB connection. To do so,

  1. Go to the official support website of the HP printer.

  2. Now select the model no of your machine and operating system.

  3. Now click on the download button and save the file to the desktop of your window.

 

Note- In some browsers, it will automatically save to the default download location.

  1. Go the installation file and double click on it. The installation process will start now.

  2. During the installation, select the full software option and then follow the steps to set up the printer connection.

  3. When prompted to choose a printer connection option by the installer, select USB to complete the setup.

  4. Now follow the remaining prompts to complete the installation process.

  5. Once the installation is completed, restart the computer. 

  6. Now tries to print, scan, or fax, depending on your printer's functionality.
