Real Estate Developers Overcome Opposition by Building Support in the Community

In her book for real estate developers, “Yes Vote: The Public Hearing Plan for Developers” Katie Coates outlines a proven strategy that helps real estate developers get approval for their porject.

“One of the most common things I see with controversial developments is that opponents malign developers and their projects,” says Katie. “The developers often want to convince their project opponents that they are wrong.”

The Approval Plan Katie has developed instructs developers to communicate with decision makers such as city council members and planning commissioners instead of trying to persuade opponents to change their minds.

“I say that my process gives decision makers Political Courage,” says Katie Coates, from her office in Southern California. “Real estate developers can take concrete steps to prepare for their public hearings. I outline the strategy and tactics in detail in my book.”

Katie Coates, author, speaker and coach, has worked with developers for more than 20 years and has helped her clients get approval at dozens of public hearings at the city council and planning commission level, as well as at regional and state agencies.

“In working with clients to get a Yes Vote at their public hearings, I’ve discovered a secret,” Katie says. “Developers are willing to make a huge financial investment in the projects they build. If they are also willing to make an investment in the communities where they propose their projects, the success rate of getting their projects approved goes up to greater than 95%.”
