When you speak about Asia, it is not just the name of one country that comes up in mind. Rather a huge list of countries which together makes Asia culturally, economically and socially strong. The existence of incredible wonders (both natural and man-made), vast deserts (Saudi Arabia) and endless steppes (Mongolia) has made Asia stand out on the world map.  If you start thinking about the reasons which makes Asia different from other continents, nearly hundreds of unknown facts will come up. #1 Birthplace of oldest civilizations in the world –

As you flip through the pages of ancient history book, that one name which often comes up is Asia. Why? This is because it is the birthplace of world’s first two human civilizations. They are Mesopotamian civilization which is around 7000 years old and another is Indus Valley Civilization, which is around 6000 years old. These regions are still said to be filled with historical facts and artifacts. No wonder, the Mesopotamian region around the river Euphrates and Tigris is still called as ‘cradle of civilization’. #2 The eternal beauty of varied landscape –

When it comes to the beauty of the landscape, almost every continent has a wide range lining its border. But when it comes to its vastness, Asia beats them all. It is the house for both the highest point on the earth, i.e. Mount Everest (of 8,848 meters) and the lowest point on the earth, i.e. Dead Sea (-395 meters). Competing with such great diversity is almost unimaginable.

According to the statistical data, nearly 60% of the world’s population stays in Asia. With most populated countries like China (1.35 billion approx.), India (1.22 billion approx.), Indonesia (250 million approx.), Bangladesh (163 million approx.) and Japan (127 million approx), Asia’s population is bound to exceed as compared to the rest of the world’s population.  

#4 Out of 10, 9 tallest buildings are in Asia –

When it comes to skyscrapers, Asia is not far behind.  Nearly 9 out 10 tallest buildings around the world are in Asia. The tallest one is Burj Khalifa of Dubai, followed by Shanghai Tower. Housing the maximum population in the world, Asia does offer immense options for people to shop as well.  Hence, the continent at present houses 10 largest shopping malls in the world. Among the lot, the largest one is the New South China Mall in Dongguan China. Unfortunately, it has turned into a ‘dead mall’ due to its isolated location and 99% vacancy.

Chine being the largest populated country, occupies an area of about 5,200 kilometers wide. But what the strange fact about this Asian country is it has only one time zone. Unlike US with 5 separate time zones, every cities of this big country follow only one time zone. The primary reason responsible for this was to make people realize about the unity. Hence, if you are traveling from one corner of China to another, there won’t be any confusion or jet lag.

Many unknown and rare animals like Asian elephant, tiger, giant panda, camel, king cobra, yak, Indian rhinoceros and python, has made Asia their home. Japan has a very unusual law for its people. One of them is obesity.  As per the Japanese law, all men and women above 40 years of age need to maintain a fit body. They are asked to maintain the waistline below 35.5 inches. Someone with more than this measurement is considered as overweight and is said to be under high risk. However, there is no penalty for such being obese. But the Japan government has introduced this clause to make people aware of living a healthy life. In fact, such measure has also made Japan to hold the oldest population in the world after Monaco.

Beside these facts, the amazing tourist attractions of Asia are also responsible in keeping its visitors in awe of it.
