Qualification
Criteria-
The educational qualification required to become a RAS
Officer is a graduate degree in any discipline from any university established
by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India. There are 4 question
papers in the RAS Main Exam. The marks secured in all the papers are counted
for the final merit.
The RAS Exam is formally referred to as Rajasthan
State and Subordinate Services Combined Examination. It is an extremely
competitive exam and the precise training and preparation strategy can only be
made after following the RAS Exam Pattern.
The pattern of RAS Exam is formed broadly on the IAS Exam
which is operated by the Union Public Service Commission.
Pattern/Layout of RAS
Exam
According to the new exam pattern of RAS Exam, the Maths
based problems have been excluded from RAS Mains and this change was introduced
in 2018, and the upcoming RAS Mains will be held as per the new pattern.
The initial stage of the RAS exam is the Prelims. The RAS
Pre Exam is a screening examination which shortlists applicants for the Main
stage of the exam.
The RAS Pre Exams consists of only one paper, unlike UPSC
IAS Prelims.
The RAS exam is conducted in three stages:
- RAS
Pre (Preliminary & Objective type)
- RAS
Mains (Descriptive type)
- Interview/Viva-voce/Personality
Test
(I)
Preliminary Exams (Objective Type): The
Preliminary Examination consists of one paper on the particular subject of
objective type and carries a maximum of 200 marks. The examination is included
to have a screening test only. The norm of the paper is of a Bachelor’s Degree
Level. The marks obtained by the candidates in Preliminary Examination and who
are declared qualified for Main Examination admission will not be included for
determining their final form of merit.
RAS MAINS( Descriptive Type): The RPSC RAS Main exam includes a total
of four papers of
200 marks each. It is mandatory criteria for applicants to appear for all the
four papers. Every paper includes
descriptive/ reasonable/analytical (concise, medium, explanation, long answer
and descriptive type questions) questions.
