Since its introduction to the world in 19th century to the modern age, radio has been the one constant which has never given up on entertaining the masses, no matter where the masses may be. We all complain about not finding anything to watch on the more than 100 channels on TV, but we can bet that no one has said that about the radio.

The concept of radio changed the landscape of entertainment and electronics , all in one go. No longer did people have to wait for letters, books or stories to entertain them. With a flick of a switch and a slight tuning to adjust the sound, they would find themselves listening to someone who had the talent to make people listen. The radio gave itself for all to enjoy, and with stations broadcasting their programs on topics such as science, politics, music, nature and history etc, the radio became one of the pioneers of modern day electronics.

Short Overview

Despite its intriguing history, radio is one of the most underrated sources of entertainment. Not everyone has the luxury of owning a TV but with the radio, anyone can listen to their favorite songs on the best hip hop radio stations around, or listen to a documentary on the beauty of nature. The radio made way for many devices and with its use for military communications, navigation and radar among others, the world became more accustomed to the use of the radio in their lives without even realizing it.

Although now we live in the modern age of 5D TV, special effects and holographic cellphones, the radio has soldiered on because nothing will ever come close to the feeling you get when you turn on the radio and your favorite song starts playing just as you begin your long drive.

Popularity in the US

The radio in the US is all about quality information and entertainment. As said before, we live in the modern age, which means that sometimes, it feels better knowing that you can always go back to something that can bring you closer to your roots. In fact, many big names in the entertainment industry are now reverting to the radio, not only because this way they can reach an even bigger audience, but also because this can help them hone their own talent.

From the top hip hop radio stations such as My Atlanta Radio from Atlanta, GA to popular entertainment shows by famous names such as Ryan Seacrest from Los Angeles, the radio is quietly dominating the entertainment field and providing fun and information through the simplest method i.e. by communicating with the masses.
