What is quinceanera

Quinceañera marks a turning point in the life of a girl, when she enters womanhood leaving behind her childhood. This is celebrated on fifteenth birthday of a girl. This celebration is essentially a Hispanic tradition, but today American and Hispanic cultures are merged and families are preferring to celebrate Sweet Sixteen.

The special dress of quince

For the whole Quinceañera affair, perhaps the most important aspect is choosing the celebrant 's dress. Usually a Quince's dress is white or pink in color and is a ball gown, but nowadays all pastel shades are in fashion. Quinceañera night is not only to tell that one has entered into young womanhood but a respectful and with a good taste.

To make this night memorable many outlets offer various kinds of quinceanera dresses. Leaving the traditional custom of wearing white only, today's quinceañera is choosing red, green, blue -the jewel-toned colors. For this party not only the Quinceañera dress is to be given attention but also of the Dama and Chambelanes. Girls are choosing Red Quinceanera Dresses as it looks very beautiful and splendid on them.

The celebration

This is a celebration where customs, religion, and modern trends are merged. Typically, a Quinceañera celebration begins with a religious ceremony and a reception is held either at home or in a banquet hall. This custom mainly focuses on God, friends and family, good food, music, and dance. Most of the time a choreographed dance is performed by the quinceañera and her court.

It is a common practice for the celebrant to choose special friends to be present in what is called Court of Honor. Mostly they are young siblings, or close friends. The court can consist of all girls called Damas, all boys called Chambelanes, or can be a mix of girls and boys. The quinceañera usually wears a ball gown and her court has the traditional attire of gowns and tuxedos.

There are some customary gifts the celebrant should receive, they are

·         Bible or prayer book and rosary

·         Tiara

·         Cross or medal

·         Scepter

One can find very beautiful and cheap special occasion dresses from various online and physical stores, to adorn the Quince and her Court of Honor, which can make the event praiseworthy and memorable one.
