Questions That A Massage Therapist Must Ask Their Clients

by Eva Spenser Innovation

You will be surprised to learn the fact that the success of a massage lies not just in the techniques the massage therapist uses on their client. Strangely the success story begins even before a client touches the massage table. Yes! we are talking about a pre-treatment interview with the client which mostly helps set expectations and add to the efficacy of the treatment. Additionally, the client is relieved of anxiety and stress which they would otherwise face because of not knowing anything about the process.

That’s why every time it comes to offering a standard or outcall massage in London, the therapist must use an active “listening” technique and try to understand the body language of clients before they proceed towards the service. The questions are mainly asked to gauge the kind of massage therapy that the client truly needs. so, here goes the questions:

Have you received a massage therapy before this?

The question tops the list of queries as its going to unfold several different facts. In the first case, when you ask this question to a client you will learn if this is their first attempt to seek a body massage or they have had received a therapy before. Furthermore, this question will unfold if the client has made previous attempts to seek massage therapy to treat any particular condition, with positive or futile outcomes.

By asking this question you can straight away cut short the consultation time since you will quickly be able to understand what is necessary for your client and thus will be able to offer effective techniques. So, you can basically progress faster and efficiently with the massaging process.

Which kind of profession are you in?

Clients are often asked this question. When you ask this question to a client you straight away get to know whether the lower back pain, shoulder or neck pain that they have been complaining about is a result from the profession they are in. Even though pains can arise from several different situations but sometimes their profession is to be blamed for stemming such painful conditions. Furthermore, you can get into the details of their job to learn if following a particular position has led them to face such painful conditions.

How did you get affected by this injury?

Your next question would be this. Other than the profession, a client can get injuries due to a basic lifestyle or a particular happening. In course of asking this question, it will become easier for you to know what they are expecting to achieve from the session. At times it’s a common injury that have led them to seek a deep tissue or full body massage

Did you try any other kind of treatment?

Even though the question might appear similar to you, you should not overrule asking the question as it helps you determine whether your client has tried out any other conventional remedies.

Do you suffer from any other physical condition?

It is a fundamental question to ask a client looking for full body or deep tissue massage. After going through their health form, you will be able to make out, if there is a physical condition that has been disrupting their health or daily activities since some time now. By knowing whether they suffer from any physical condition you can at least gain an idea on the kind of techniques which are most suitable and safe for your client.

Do you have allergies?

Now this sounds like a pertinent question under any given condition. Massage techniques involve the use of essential oils and other elements which a client may be allergic to. Before you begin with the treatment ask your client if they are particularly allergic to any essential oil or substance so that you can refrain from using the element.

Ask these questions before you start with a full body massage on your client.
