There was a time when people were fully dependent on their PCs to browse the internet. There were simply no other platforms other than that. But times have changed for the better and these days, tablets, iPads and several gadgets have flooded the market. People have more choices nowadays when it comes to browsing the web, watching movies and several other activities.

But suppose you are looking to buy a tablet in NZ, how will approach it? Considering there are variety of choices these days, it can be truly difficult to ascertain which is best for you.

Tablets NZ

Some of the features that you should look for are:-

Screen resolution and size

More often than not, tablet sizes range from 5-12 inches. While smaller tablets are more pocket-friendly, large ones offer more screens space, but it comes at a price of being too big for the pocket. Ideally, you should always opt for a mid-sized tablet which ranges about 7-8 inches since they offer an adequate screen space while also being portable.

When it comes to resolution, the higher it is, the sharper the images will appear. If you intend to use the tablet for watching HD movies, having minimum resolutions of 720p is a must.

What’s the operating system – Android, IOS or Windows

Google Android

The Android OS by Google is one of the most popular OS that is used in tablets. This OS is also used on the majority of smartphones. Although it might feel similar to IOS in feel, it isn’t eh same at all. Compared to IOS, Android is more customisable. A few years ago, Android somewhat lacked in choices of apps, but it isn’t the case anymore. As of today, Android has over 2.2 million apps available, the largest for any OS. Also, with Android, you aren’t restricted to one apps store like in IOS.

Apple IOS

This OS is used exclusively in Apple products, and it's essentially the same whether it’s the iPhone or iPod Touch. As far as user interface goes, there is no OS better than IOS. Also, it has over 2 million apps in the Apple app store.

Microsoft Windows

This OS holds the smallest share in the tablet market. Probably the biggest advantage which a Windows tablet PC holds over other kinds is that it is fully compatible with the Windows OS that is used on laptops and desktops. For people looking to use their tablets as portable PCs, this OS might suit them.

Camera –how many? What’s the megapixel?

Most modern tablets these days come with two cameras – one in the rear of the tablet and one front facing camera. Although tablets aren’t particularly known for having top quality cameras, you should look for one which has a minimum of 4MP. This will allow you to print images without distorting or cropping the image.

So these are some of the many features that you should look for in tablets in NZ while buying. Fix your budget and then browse the internet for the several kinds of tablets available.

How many GBs of RAM?

RAM options are pretty limited on a tablet due to their small form factor, and you also can’t upgrade it later like on PCs. First, you need to decide what use your tablet be for and then choose an appropriate RAM for it. For instance, if you are getting the tablet primarily for editing pictures and videos, you will need to get a tablet which has a minimum of 4-8GB of RAM. On the other hand, a tablet with 1-4GB RAM is sufficient for watching movies or browsing the web.
