Portfolio Shoot

by A.Rrajani Photographer A.Rrajani

One of the most common questions photography enthusiasts often receive when teaching workshops is “What’s the best way to display my portfolio shoot ?” Many people look at their portfolios and feel overwhelmed with all the artwork they’ve put together. It can be very hard to organize a cohesive “portfolio” of the many images one has produced. If you’re struggling with this question, then you are probably not showing off your work as much as you could.

In order to make your portfolio show off your best images, here are some tips. The secret to getting the best visual effects in your photos is to have them organized from the beginning. So, before you do anything else, get your digital camera ready. Setup your settings so that it’s ready for editing and set up your tripod.

Now, go through your entire collection of photos one by one and take note of where you like each image.

If you’d like, you can even print out the ones you like the most to bring them to your computer later. This will help you keep track of what you like, which may be different from what you think is good. Then, you need to go over your entire portfolio and select the images that you really like. You can even make a short video about why you like them. Once you have your desired images, go ahead and print them.

Afterward, you’ll want to transfer your portfolio shoot to a large, high-quality photo album. This is where you’ll want to put a piece of acid-free tissue paper on top (if you plan to lay your photos on top of your photos, remember that you may scratch the paper). It will be easy for you to admire your portfolio when you open it later. Once you’ve done all of your research and are ready to print out your portfolio, you should open it immediately. After printing out your portfolio, you should always make sure to leave at least one extra copy for yourself and make sure to store it somewhere safe.
