Port Blair, also known as mini India, is the largest city and the capital of Andaman and Nicobar island group. It is an upcoming city, with a huge variation in culture, people, and religion, as it is attracting people from all over the nation. Still it is one of the most peaceful city with no religious and region conflicts.

As a tourist destination, it is one of the best in the country. It is a beautiful city located on the sea-shore of Indian Ocean and is situated in the Middle Andaman island of the state. The population of the city is around 100,000 and basically comprises of Hindus, Christians, and few other religions. The city has a very significant historic importance, as during the British colonial era, all the prisoners were kept in this state, as it is quite isolated from the rest of the nation. The state was also administered by Japanese for a brief interval of time during World War 2. Besides these, the place is also known for the active volcano that it houses.

Port Blair is a good holiday destination and there is certainly a lot to explore in Port Blair sightseeing. Although the distance is a problem, but it certainly is a good place to explore. Over the few years the city has seen several development. It now houses it own airport, the Vir Savarkar Airport, which connects the city to all major cities of the nation. Compared to other major cities of the nation, Port Blair is not that big. A week-long tour is more than enough to explore all the major attractions of the city.   • Cellular Jail - It is one of the most iconic places in the city. Built by Britishers in order to imprison the political leaders of the nation, the Cellular Jail is one of the biggest jail in the country. The prisoners here were subjected to brutal work regime and were given inhuman treatments. However, the place now looks completely opposite to what it was 60-70 years back. Today the jail is a national monument and is very well-kept. The place opens for visitors from 9:30 AM to 4 PM. It remains closed on Mondays, as Monday is the state holiday.

  • Ross Island - It is a major island falling under the Andaman and Nicobar island group. It takes 15 to 20 minutes to reach the island by boat. During the British colonial era, it was their administrative capital. Now, the place is a paradise for the history lovers, as it has multiple old British buildings that are on ruins. Besides, the place also houses lots of peacocks and deer which is another reason behind tourists visiting the island.

  • Corbyn's Cave - Popular among locals, the Crobyn;s Cave is one of the major attractions in Port Blair tourism. People come here to swim, watch sunset, and enjoy the sun-bleached sand. However, visitors have to little attentive as the currents here can be strong and also because of the fact that part of the beach was washed away by 2004 tsunami.

These are three attraction of the city's tourism, that one just can't skip. Besides these there are several other fun places in the city, including - Barren Island, Wandoor, Mini Zoo, Japanese Bunkers, and Chatam Saw Mill etc. Simply head to the city in your next vacation and make your holidays fun.
