Platform trolley or sack truck-What to choose?
by Martin Jacob Equip2goSack
trucks and trolleys are one of our most popular material handling products.
They're easy to store, easy to use, and incredibly versatile. With one of
these, it's easy to move heavy objects around the building without risk of
injury or accident. You can buy sack trucks in a whole host of different colours,
styles, frames and specifications. At first glance, trolleys Melbourne
all seems a bit overwhelming with so many options to choose from, so here's what
you need to know about buying a sack truck or trolley for your business.
Platform trolley or sack truck?
Platform
trolleys are long, flat trolleys Sydney with
a solid deck and castor wheels underneath. The wide deck means it's suitable
for carrying heavy items, but it also means you have to manually lift the item
onto the bed of the truck, which isn't good if the item is very heavy. Some
platform trolleys have brakes on the handles, making them easier to control
even on a slope.
Sack
trucks are straight movers, with a solid toe on the bottom that can slide under
boxes and other items. This gives them the advantage that they can easily lift
and move heavy objects without human intervention. However, their construction
means they are not the best for moving large or heavy objects, as they will
become unbalanced or topple over.
So,
a trolley
that's large and heavy but not too heavy is best, and smaller, heavier items
are better with a truck. But what if you need to move a variety of items? Or
don't really know what you are going to move? Well, luckily you don't always
have to make the decision.
Both
2 in 1 and 3 in 1 trucks work well together, making them extremely versatile
and ready for pretty much anything. The largest capacities can handle up to 400
kg of weight, and are a great option if you have a variety of moving needs but
only want to buy one truck.
Steel or aluminium frame?
Most
dump trucks are available in aluminium or steel construction. Each comes with
its own advantages and disadvantages, and the right choice will depend on what
you need to move.
Aluminium
is incredibly light. This can make your truck easier to store, and easier to
move where it is not possible to roll it on its wheels, such as when it is
lifted onto the back of a van. It's easy to operate, and with aluminium’s
natural resistance to corrosion, you can count on it to last a long time.
