Every gardener has his/her own preference regarding the choice of plastic planters or clay pots for their plants. Gardeners are always adding accessories like designer planters, bird cages, climbers and more to make their garden look beautiful. If you are a newbie and still in the dilemma of choosing the right designer planters for your garden then read this article to know the benefits of plastic planters.

Benefits of plastic planter
•    Plastic pots are lightweight, strong and flexible.
•    If you buy good quality plastic planters you will realize that how durable they are with a long span of life.
•    If you are a person who takes care of their interiors and exteriors well then opt for plastic pots as they are available in plethora of colors to choose from.
•    Not just colors but plastic pots are true designer planters as they are available in many shape, sizes, and texture, and coordinate well with style and décor of your garden and interiors.
•    Plastic pots are considered safe for growing plants as they are made of inert materials.
•    These days the plastic plants are usually made of recyclable plastic so even if you wish to dispose them off when they are not usable it won’t harm the environment.
•    Plastic pots are porous and don’t breathe like clay pots, this helps to retain moisture for plant roots and one need not irrigate the plant regularly.

What to avoid in plastic pots

Not all the things are rosy about these pots as they have few disadvantages as well. So as to get the best out of them avoid the following things before buying these pots for your garden.

•    Never ever choose black color plastic for the pots as they may look stunning with the exteriors but can act as the solar collectors and heat up the pot causing plant damage. Although there is no harm using dark color pots in the interiors of the home.
•    Don’t choose plastic pots for outside whose material is not UV rays safe as sunlight is hard on plastic causing fading and brittleness. Always opt for prime quality plastic pots curated specially for outdoor use as they are treated with ultraviolet light inhibitors to reduce fading and maintain flexibility thus increasing the life-span of the pot.
•    Always avoid planters with less drainage hole. A good planter should always have a lot of drainage hole to avoid water logging in the soil.

As they say, ‘to plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow.’ Gardening is a real task of patience, labor and attention; no plants grow overnight but when someone expends effort on them. Choose wisely for your garden and make it bloom forever.
