by Kristen White Blogger
So, you’ve been reading great reviews on Costa Rica and want your next vacation there. You’ve read about the great fishing adventures, the wonderful and luxurious resorts, zip-lining over the forests, and breathtaking scenes. So, here are some tips on the best time for Costa Rica vacation and how to plan for it.

Best Time to Visit Costa Rica

This is probably the most difficult question about Costa Rica. The country has pleasant weather all year round and basically two seasons, the dry season and the green season. So, the best time to visit would depend on the kind of adventure you are looking for.

Dry Season Dry Season is from December to April. This the time when the sun is out and the tourists are all headed either to the beach or for fishing adventures. It is also the busy season so it may end up being expensive. You will have to book accommodation months in advance to get anything at a decent rate.

Wet Season–The wet season is from May to November. This is the time when it rains and the entire country is a picture of green foliage. So, if you want to explore the rainforests and wildlife adventures, then this is the best time to visit. Also, this is the low season in terms of tourists and you will find that the prices of everything, in general, are low.

Be Prepared To Spend

Unlike other South American countries, Costa Rica is known to be expensive. So, it is best to plan on how much you want to spend. You can get great deals and discounts if you book in advance. Also visiting during the wet season can be less expensive as most tourists prefer the dry season.

Don’t Miss the Night Life

Costa Rica is known for some of the best night street parties and we recommend that you take time to experience the best nightlife in Costa Rica. Some of the places such as Jaco, Playa del Coco, Puerto Viejo, San Jose, and Tamarindo that are the most popular destination for nightlife. You will find discos, Dj’s, karaoke, clubs, and bars. You will find the locals groove to salsa or merengue.

Decide Where You Want To Go

Costa Rica may be small, but it has varying weathers, altitudes, coasts and climates across the country. Each tiny village or town has something unique and you will have to decide well in advance best time for Costa Rica vacation and where you want to go. While Tamarindo and San Jose may be suggested by most travel sites, we recommend that you take the road less taken and visit lesser-known locations.

Guanacaste– If you just want to surf and relax on the beach, then Playa Negra and Playa Avellanas, Guanacaste are the places to go. They are just 30 minutes from Tamarindo and have the most beautiful sunsets.

Osa Peninsula – Puerto Jimenez, Osa Peninsula is the place to go if you are a nature lover. The Corcovado National Park gives you a wonderful tour of protected rainforests and a chance to spot the wildlife.

Take Time to Explore the Country

Costa Rica is not the place for weekend getaways. The place has so many activities and attractions that you will need to plan for at least a week-long vacation. Despite its size, the country is filled with natural wonders, titillating beaches, lush rainforests, and even active volcanoes.

Although you will be unable to explore all these in one week, you would have at least done justice to a few. You can pack your days with activities such as zip-lining, surfing, angling, visit the volcanoes, and explore the protected rainforests, and spend the evenings on the beach taking in the breath taking sunset and exploring the best nightlife in Costa Rica. So, go plan your next holiday to this heavenly country.
