Microsoft, one of the biggest tech giants has offered the world a number of exciting tech products including Office (The most used productivity suite). Microsoft Office suite comprises of servers, services, and applications such as Word, Access, PowerPoint, Excel and more. The company keeps on bringing new updates in its Office suite in order to upgrade it to the higher version office 2019.

Every new Office version is embedding with advanced and exceptional features and services. Last year, Microsoft has announced that it is planning to launch the latest addition to its Office suite series in the coming year, i.e. 2018. This new version will be named as Office 2019.

At that time, the company didn’t clear that what platforms Office 2019 is going to support. However, analysts from top industries have predicted this latest Office version to be available for two or three Windows versions. To clear all the doubts, Microsoft has now revealed that Office 2019 will only be available on Windows 10, which is an almost unprecedented move by the company.

The company has also confirmed that the compatibility of this new version of Office will not be allowed for Windows 10 semi-annual channel release and Windows 10 Enterprise long-term servicing channel 2018 along with the upcoming Windows Server LTSC. This simply means that when the tech giant no longer supports a Windows 10 version, you will not receive any further update or support for Office 2019.

The company also stated that it is making changes to the extended support period for Office 2019 by reducing it for three years. The new version will still receive the standard five-year mainstream support. After this period, the software publisher is only increasing support by two more years instead of five.

Apart from this, the company said that the new version will be available in the second half of this year. The company will start distributing early Office application previews from Q2, or April, May, and June. Another key point of the Office 2019 suite is that it is a perpetual Office version. This effectively means that the company is taking away its subscription-based licensing model of Office 365 for the latest additions to this series.

However, the company has not exposed about the new suite of applications of Office 2019 as of now. The general manager for Office has told:

“The upcoming Office suite will add the new user and IT capabilities for the users who haven’t used the cloud yet. For instance, the all new and better inking features such as tilt effects, ink replay, and pressure sensitivity will allow the users to work hassle-free and a natural way. Other features of formulas and chart will make data analysis for Microsoft Excel extremely powerful. Features of visual animations (Zoom and Morph) will add finishing to PowerPoint presentations; server enhancement feature will further incorporate updates to the usability, voice, security and IT manageability.”

This recent announcement of making the Office 2019 available for Windows 10 users may put the users in trouble who are still stuck with Windows 7. Besides the availability of Windows 10 on more than 400 million devices, Windows 7 is still enjoying a huge customer base. In short, to have an advantage of Office 2019, you need to upgrade to Windows 10 first.
