Places to explore while visiting Jamshedpur on weekend

by Manish Kumar Marketing Head

Jamshedpur, Jharkhand's largest metropolis, is an artistically pleasing township with appealing infrastructure and landscape. Jamshedpur, India's first planned city, is set against the magnificent Dalma Hills and is the world's eighth-largest steel production firm.

In 1919, the town of Jamshedpur was named after Jamshedji Tata, the founder of the Tata industries, which provide most of the city's public services and infrastructure. Jamshedpur, sometimes known as the "Steel City," is a prime example of the benefits of industrialization in a developing country. The principal attractions in Jamshedpur, the largest city in Jharkhand, include the wide, tree-lined Jubilee Park (which houses Tata Zoological Park with species such as tigers and leopards), the hill-top Bhuvaneshwari Temple, and the Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary.

Places to Visit in Jamshedpur
Dimna Lake: Try jet skiing and rowing at Dimna Lake if you appreciate water sports. The surrounding green mountains add to the lake's stunning splendor, making your trip even more memorable.

Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary: Jamshedpur, too, has a wild side, and it's only 10 kilometers from the city! The Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary is a great place to see sloth bears, wild elephants, and a variety of wild cats. A night at the Pindrabera Forest Rest House (for which you must obtain prior permission from the Forest Department) will round out your rendezvous with nature.

Jubilee Park: This centrally placed park is a popular picnic spot for both locals and tourists. The park, which is a fitting present from Tata Steel to the people of Jamshedpur, is stretched across 200 acres of land and includes a Rose garden, amusement park, colorful fountains, and a gorgeous lake. The park is illuminated and ornamented with flower beds on March 3, the birth anniversary of Jamsetji Tata, the founder of the Steel City.

Kalibari Temple: One of Jamshedpur's oldest and holiest shrines, Kalibari Temple attracts devotees from all over the world. The temple, dedicated to Goddess Kali, was built at the same time as the steel mill in 1912. The Kali Puja has been held here for the past 27 years.

Domohani or River's Meet: Domohani or River's Meet is located on the outskirts of Jamshedpur at the confluence of the rivers Subarnarekha and Kharkhai. The location is ideal for viewing a stunning dawn because it is surrounded by lush green fields and tall Eucalyptus trees.

Hudco Lake: Located in the Telco township, Hudco Lake is a favorite picnic destination for both locals and tourists. Enjoy boating and also pay a visit to the neighboring Sumant Mulgaonkar Park, which features an artificial waterfall and plenty of open space for children to play.

With many hotels and standalone restaurants offering a delectable menu, there is no dearth of eateries in Jamshedpur.
