Perkins 2500 Series Generator Leroy-Somer Alternator Shut Down

The Perkins 2500 series Diesel Generator has a diesel-powered engine and a Leroy Somer alternator. This high-quality generator has several alarm and shutdown protection features built into the machine.

 

Shutdown

Perkins generators shut down automatically for any of the following reasons: generator over-volts or under-volts, over or under speed, over or under frequency Hz and low or high oil pressure. When the generator shuts down you will see a flashing red light.

 

Alarm

An alarm will sound if the Perkins generator fails to function properly for the following reasons: high current, battery charge failure, high and low battery volts, failure to rest or a loss of speed sensing signal. An auditory alarm will sound and an amber LED light will light up but not flash.

 

Digital Control System

A set mounted digital control system provides metering and LED light indicators for shutdown and alarm functions. This panel will display readings for the components responsible for an alarm or shutdown so you know the cause of the malfunction. Consult your operator's manual to correct the problem
