-What are the pathologies and operations most in-demand in your medical center?

-The most demanded surgeries correspond to those of the abdominal wall, for example, hernias of the wall, as well as those related to pathologies of the anus and rectum, and breast. The most common are hemorrhoids or anal fissures, hernias, pathologies of the abdominal wall, and we also attend many patients with breast symptoms, either with mazodynia, which is a pain in the breast or with symptoms of breast nodules. Patients also come for scars and breast reconstruction.

-In the operating room, we are assisted by a scrub nurse and a second assistant surgeon for major surgeries.

In the case of abdominal surgery, we use laparoscopic, for gallbladder, for example, which is one of the most common diagnoses in surgery. In the case of hernias, some have an indication for laparoscopic surgery.

-What is the usual profile of your patients?

-We have a mixed patient profile. Most of the patients are young and middle-aged people, both residents of Arrecife and the rest of Lanzarote.

-How important is instrumental in your specialty?
