Music has no language. It just grows on you. It is astounding how the combination of certain instruments played in synchronization with each other generates different kind of feelings within a person. Though, music has no language, it surely does have different genres. Some of them are rock, pop, jazz, classical and many others.

Rock music

Rock music in itself has become a very broad term. Generally this consists of a group of people called a rock band. Usually there are four members in a band; a lead singer, lead guitarist, bass guitarist and a drummer. Sometimes there are others as well like a pianist, a flutist and even a violinist. A band writes its own lyrics and composes its own songs.

A rock music has many sub genres, namely heavy metal, grunge rock, dark metal, hard rock, soft rock, etc.

Rock music gained its popularity because of its free spirited music and lyrics. A sense of rawness is what appeals the most. This is because rock bands are usually the alliance's between young people. The rage inside them comes out through this music. But that is not the only reason, rockstars also carry a certain glamour with them and hence concerts are audiovisually enthralling.

 

Rock music in India

India is culturally rich country. It has different types of music. Rock music emerged in India in recent decades. The interesting thing though is that with its emergence, bands started experimenting. They began to club rock music with classical, fill and regional music. Every college in India now has one or two bands. Rock culture is one of the fastest growing trends in India. Even though these days trance music, house and club are famous within youth, rock is something which could never fade out.

Indian Ocean is one of the most famous rock bands in India. The best thing about this band is that they were amongst the first rock bands to club rock music with classical. Apart from that Bhayanak Maut, Parikrama, Pentagram, Mother Jane and Moksha are some of the famous bands.

Jamming

The bands need to practice their songs in order to perform well. Such a practice where they try out different pieces of music to go with the song, is known as jamming. A place where a band jams is generally a room or a garage in some cases. But in metro cities like Mumbai, one cannot jam anywhere. The place has to be a secluded one so that nobody gets disturbed. Or the band can opt for a jam room studio. There are many places where you can rent jam rooms in Mumbai. One can find them on the internet. These generally don't cost much and they also set up an ambience for the band to jam properly without any disturbance.
