Parental Role in Teaching Kids about COVID Protocols

by Saurabh Gupta Digital Markter

For over two years now, most countries globally have been facing the wreath of the COVID-19 pandemic. This unforeseen event led to a sudden lockdown all over the country. The number of COVID positive patients kept on skyrocketing each day, and it made life to come to a sudden standstill.

Even though no cure was immediately available, over time, vaccinations appeared to help fight the severity of this condition. However, despite that, it became indispensable to observe COVID protocols to prevent exposure to the virus.

For the longest time, schools remained closed. Though no stones were left unturned to ensure that the education remains unaffected for the kids, children did miss the overall environment and the education delivery, which they were getting in the physical classrooms.

The schools are finally opening now, and the kids, teachers, and parents are equally excited about it. However, for the sake of general understanding and to ensure there remain minimal chances for the spread of infection, it has become rather necessary to educate children about the basic COVID protocols.

We, at The Navyandhra School, positioned among the best preschool in gurgaon, have always kept our pupils in the loop as far as these protocols are concerned. However, we firmly believe that parental intervention is a must when it comes to helping children to naturally adapt to these dos and don’ts.

Parental role in explaining to children about the COVID protocols:

  • Practicing social distancing:

After being away from their classmates for many months now, it is obvious for children to desire spending time in the company of their friends. There is no harm in doing so as long as children are taught the importance of social distancing.

Thus, we urge the parents to make the kids understand that they should all avoid crowding in one place. top 5 schools in Gurgaon While it is okay to sit down to have lunch together or play in the playground, for the health and safety of each one of them, they must maintain a safe distance from one another.

At The Navyandhra School, we closely monitor all our students so that none of them comes in close proximity with one another. However, we still believe that if parents keep reinforcing the protocol to their kids, it would be better for them to understand the situation and act accordingly.

  • Wearing mask at all times:

It has not taken adults long to avoid wearing a mask or using it as a chin accessory. Since you will be leading your children by example, it is important for you to first watch your actions.

Next, keep your child reminded about wearing a mask at all times. In fact, encourage them to pass on this message to all their friends and classmates so that at no point any one of them steps out without a mask.

To get your child interested in wearing a mask, make sure it is well fitted and comfortable to them. You can also get a little creative and buy a mask that carries a picture of their favorite character. This done right, there are bleak chances of your child removing the mask and putting it away.

  • Washing hands at regular intervals:

One of the first ways of keeping the coronavirus at bay is by washing hands at regular intervals. It is common among children to forget washing hands while having a quick snack or lunch.

As parents, you need to keep your children reminded about washing their hands rather often, especially since COVID is highly prevalent.

What you can do is to get them into washing hands when at home. Once they get into this habit, they will continue doing so even in your absence.

As one of the Best Nursery School in Gurgaon, we, at The Navyandhra School, make sure that our students abide by these small but vital rules because all we want is for them to stay fit and healthy.

  • Staying well sanitized:

Sanitizers have been around for a while now, but not many people were in the habit of using those. The point is it is not possible to have access to running water at all times in order to wash hands, which is where sanitizers come in handy.

We request our respectable parent fraternity to kindly try and get the kids into the practice of keeping themselves properly sanitized. Even though we, at The Navyandhra School, have made arrangements to provide children with easy access to sanitizers, we request the parents to make sure that the children have one handy.

  • Educating peers and friends:

There is nothing unusual if you see one child finding it easy to adapt to new protocols as compared to his peers. Thus, we believe that as parents and mentors, our role is not merely limited to guiding the kids about observing the COVID protocols, but what is equally or even more important is to encourage children to pass on all that they have learned to their friends and peers.

We, at The Navyandhra School, regularly conduct sessions to explain to our students the dos and don’ts that will collectively help us sail through this pandemic. However, we urge the parents to ensure that instead of explaining to your child “what” he or she should be observing, make sure that you explain the “why” as well. Let your child know that for everyone’s health and safety, each person out there needs to follow all the COVID protocols.

Once your child understands the importance of observing these protocols, it is not long before the same information gets passed on to friends and peers.

COVID Protocols – There is no denying them!

In January 2022, India saw 2.86 lakh new COVID positive cases. The jump was from 16% to 19.5%. This clearly shows the importance of observing all the COVID protocols.

As such, what everyone needs to understand is that this pandemic is of such a nature that if we as a country wish to come out victorious, then every citizen needs to abide by the protocols.

We, at The Navyandhra School, ranked among the top 20 schools in gurgaon , would hence like to reinstate to our students as well as the parents that by following these protocols, they are not just benefitting themselves but also doing good to others. This clearly proves that there is no room to compromise on the COVID-19 protocols.
