Out of the Way 4G, 5G is Here to Stay!
The days of 5G are here everyone. It’s not hype but a
reality. With fast wireless Internet on everyone’s mind 5G connectivity will be
here sooner than you can think.
The FCC has already authorized LTE-U devices on 5GHz used
only by Wi-Fi and Bluetooth devices. T-Mobile has already said they will take
advantage of the authorization by the end of 2017. The other telecom giant
Verizon has also said that 5G services will be available in 11 cities by the
middle of 2017.
4G, what 4G?
The time of 4G is gone. Now you’ll get phones with 5G or
LTE-U capability allowing users to download in seconds what takes minutes to
download right now. Not only will you get faster speeds, 5G’s lower latency
means you can play online multiplayer games, and you find dropped calls or
lagging in dense population areas like New York City or Chicago because of its
better performance. And this could also be advantageous for residents in rural areas
of America as most of them are still on sluggish dial-up, spotty satellite or
inconsistent 4G wireless.
5G is here and now!
The 5G is the future and it’s here now. But there are a few
problems. The first one is that there is no clear definition of 5G at the
moment. The other is bringing Wi-Fi Internet speeds in the gigabit range.
And the other problem is that 5G development is more like a
marketing tactic than the future of mobile Wi-Fi Internet. Wi-Fi Internet of
tomorrow is very expensive to develop. You’ll have to develop 5G technology to
support more than just phones. It’ll have to support homes and driverless cars
and the Internet of Things – and that’s not going to be cheap. Like 4G, 5G also
runs on base stations and cell sites. And those base stations will have to
serve loads created by all connected devices in homes. There will have to be
enough base stations for home internet solutions like Google Fiber and Verizon
FIOS.
All in all, 5G will be the way forward in wireless
technology. Let’s wait and see what the big guns like AT&T, Verizon and
T-Mobile do.
