OPPO launches a new smartphone in India, the Mirror 5
Over the last two quarters,
several Chinese companies have penetrated the Indian smartphone market, where
the economy is lucrative, and consumers are tech-savvy yet frugal. In such
markets, consumers are less brand-conscious, and more technology-conscious;
they want more features for a smaller price, never mind the make of the device.
For this reason, Chinese manufacturers have been able to create some traction
among the consumers in the market, and Oppo is no different.
The China-based smartphone
manufacturer recently announced the launch of its new smartphone in India, at the
affordable price of Rs 15,990, which comes to approximately 250 US dollars. The
device, titled Mirror 5, is an Android-run device, with a 5-inch display and an
Android-flavored UI called Color OS 2.1. Since it is Android-run, users
interested in the device can easily get almost all their old content onto the
new device. Content transfer apps like SmartIOApp
allow cross-platform transfer of content, including pictures, contacts, videos,
audio, WhatsApp Chat any many more.
The Mirror 5 is powered by a Qualcomm
Snapdragon 1.2 GHz Quad-Core 64-bit processor, and comes with 2GB of RAM and a 16GB
ROM. It supports 3G, and has dual-SIM capacity as well. Even though the phone’s
5MP front camera and 8MP rear camera are nothing to write home about, the
photo-rich features of the phone make it an easy purchase of selfie-lovers. The
Oppo Mirror 5 allows users to create, edit and recreate new images, without
having to download additional applications on the device. It supports all major apps to transfer
content , like transfer
pictures and recover content. It has 11 built-in filters that allow
single-step photo editing, for anyone who loves playing with images without
spending too much time.
The Mirror 5 will be available
in two different colors, namely white and blue, and has a bi-metallic frame
with cross beams. The surface of the device is akin to the cuts of a diamond,
made possible by the unique design created by the company using an ultraviolet
decoration technique. Yet to hit the shelves, the device would be a nice
addition to the mid-range smartphone range, though it is safe to say, consumers
are already spoiled for choice.
