One Of The Greatest All-Rounders To Bless The Cricketing World- Jacques Kallis

If you are a cricketing fan and are asked to name some of the greatest all-rounders of world cricket, you would probably not forget the name of veteran South African- “The” Jacques Kallis.

And you would rather not write ‘the’ before the name of a person, unless he or she happens to have something really special. Kallis was born at Pinelands, Cape Town and made his international debut in the year 1995 against England. Though it took him some time to cement his place in the team, once he did, he was almost unstoppable.

This South African Cricketer was known for his extreme consistency with the bat and a partnership-breaker with the ball. Let us view the batting record of the veteran cricketer:

Not only with the bat, Kallis was an extreme help to his team as an efficient pacer, with his consistent line and length and astonishing wicket-taking abilities at crucial intervals.

Some of the other records possessed by Kallis at the international level are as follows:

·         Jacques Kallis is one of the few all-rounders to score a century in a test match and also take a haul of 5 wickets. He has done it twice in his international career while the others in the list are Ian Botham (five times) Sir Garry Sobers (twice) and Mushtaq Mohammad (twice).

·         He is one of the four players in the history of test cricket to score centuries in 5 consecutive test matches of their career. Mohammad Yousuf, Gautam Gambhir and Sir Donald Bradman too have achieved the same feat in their career, with Sir Don Bradman scoring more centuries consecutively than any of the other players.

·         He is just behind Sir Don Bradman in another record. He has an average of 56.26 in the second innings of the test and only Bradman has an average greater than him. This list comprises of players with more than 2000 test runs in their career.

·         Kallis encompasses the record of fastest test fifty in tests. He made a 50 off just 24 balls in a match against Zimbabwe.
