Onda V989 review
The Onda V989 is one of the first tablet to feature the new Allwinner A80 Octa Core processor. Boasting superb performance, said to achieve about 50000 plus points on Antutu Benchmark which is beyond of any other Soc available in the market can do. Furthermore, it also features a 28nm architecture and an advance Big.Little feature that allows better battery management.
In terms of gaming, the new hardware also comes with a revamped PowerVR G6320 graphics processor which can easily handle even the most intensive 3D Games available in the market. It also supports 4K Video Playback via Mini HDMI Port. Other features include a 2 GB DDR3 RAM and 32 GB internal storage expandable up to 32 GB via Micro SD Support. The tablet also runs the latest Android 4.4.2 Kitkat right out of the box with multilingual support, see above.
The V989 just like other predecessor tablets like the ONDA V975M, comes with a similar 9.7 inch, Retina IPS Display which is said to be comparable to the iPad Air or Ipad 4 in terms of image performance.
Sadly, there is no build in 3G or Data Support, but external 3G Dongle are supported via OTG Support. There is also no GPS or Compass support built in. Although other connectivity options are present such as Bluetooth 4.0, Wifi 802.11 b/g/n, as well as other additions such as Miracast or Wireless Display, and Mini HDMI support that allows 4K or 4096 x 2160 pixel video output.
Design and Battery, the tablet comes with a decent size 8000mAh battery, however, considering the new hardware, a 10000mAh would have been better. In terms of design, Onda has been a keen follower of the iPad design and looking at the V989, there clearly inspiration. An Aluminum back shell adds a bit of weight but allows for a more sturdier build.
