Nurses Week 2019

by Chris Ingallina Corporate Caterers

Next month we celebrate National Nurses Week, a time to reflect on and appreciate the hard work and commitment of the four million registered nurses in the United State that keep us healthy and happy. In 1982, President Ronald Regan signed a proclamation naming “National Recognition Day for Nurses” on May 6th. National Nurses Week—May 6th through May 12th—was designated by the American Nurses Association in 1993 and has been celebrated each year since. There are many ways to celebrate the nurses in your life. From “Thank You” notes to luncheon spreads, there is an option for any budget.

A thank you card is one of the simplest ways to show your appreciation. A note of thanks can often make a world of difference to those who share with us the emotional experiences of our health. To kick it up a notch add a few balloons or,better yet, a tray of desserts! Desserts are always appreciated and are a great way to show someone you are thinking about them. Sending a tray of cookies, brownies, or a mixture of seasonal sweets gives the recipient an excuse to Indulge in a little guilty pleasure!Gift baskets are another way to make nurses feel special. Baskets of fruits and nuts, cookies and desserts, or specialty foods are a wonderful option for showing recognition to the nurses in your community.

If you have one nurse or several who have made a lasting impact on your life, send them lunch! With a nurse’s busy schedule, it can be difficult to find time to sit and eat. Box Lunches are a great choice because they are easy to grab and eat on the go.Caterers such as Ingallina’s Box Lunch in the PortlandSeattle, and Los Angeles areas offer free delivery of their Executive Box Lunches, all of which include an entrée, chips or roll, cookie, fruit cup and water.

To go all out this Nurses Week, send lunch for the entire department. Platters of sandwiches, salads, fruits, and vegetables are a healthy way to show your local nurse team how much they impact the community and how much they are appreciated. A great way to celebrate Nurses Week is providing lunch for their next work break or meeting. Be sure to include some vegetarian, gluten free, and dairy free options so everyone can enjoy. Nurses are an important part of our community. They help heal our bodies and provide emotional support when we need it most. They put their heart and soul into their work, sometimes without recognition. Be sure to take a moment or two and recognize their hard work and dedication this Nurses Week!
