Before you deal with your beeping smoke detector, consider:
1. Do you have a battery or hardwired smoke alarms?
Batteries-only smoke alarms don't require wiring. To work
properly, smoke detectors must be hardwired. Many have a backup battery for
power outages.
2. Do you have standard or local smoke detectors or are they
part of your security system? Because a local smoke detector is a solo sensor,
all interactions occur at the device. You can silence it by pressing/holding a
button or cutting the power if there is no fire. Smoke detectors may not beep
if your fire alarms are integrated and monitored by Guardian. Instead, call
your security panel or keypad.
Your panel will beep and display an action message. They
beep at the gadget and the security panel.
Guardian will contact you if you do nothing or call the fire
department. You can also silence the alarm at the panel by entering your code.
If you need help dealing with non-fire-related issues, see
how to stop the beeping.

3. Are you certain there isn't a fire?
If a smoke alarm is beeping, rule out a fire (or the smokey
beginnings of one).
There may be smoke in places you can't see, so be cautious!

Change the battery.
Low batteries are the most common cause of smoke detectors
beeping or sending issue signals to your security panel.
The device will beep periodically to remind you to replace
the battery.
Smoke alarm batteries should be tested weekly and replaced
twice a year.
To help you remember, change them at DST in the spring and
fall.
If your batteries still have juice, rule out other probable
battery concerns like:
You're misusing batteries.
The battery pull-tab works.

The batteries were reversed.
Hardwired smoke alarms with error codes like low-battery
contain internal processors.
If you changed the batteries and it still chirps, try that.
Call a pro if your smoke detector continues to beep after
resetting the error codes.
Your smoke detector is old.
Smoke detectors aren't built to last.
They need replacing every 7-10 years.
Your smoke alarm's manufacture date is on the back.
Remember that the purchase date is not the production date,
so verify the date even if you just bought new alarms.
Make it a habit to check the date annually.
You can write down the replacement date or set a reminder on
your phone or calendar.
Try changing your equipment before they reach ten years to
avoid false beeping.
Your home's alarms should be replaced if you are unsure of
their age.

Awkwardly positioned smoke detector
The right smoke alarm is as crucial as the right placement.
The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) states that
the greatest threat from fire comes at night when everyone is sleeping.
That's why they advise placing smoke detectors in every
bedroom, outside every sleeping area, and on every level of your home,
including the basement.
