Nifty ways of practising self care when on budget

It may sound cliche, but life is indeed hard. You are in a constant juggle of competing demands and are thus faced with various emotionally challenging situations and scenarios.

As the saying goes, 'The greatest wealth is Health', self care is that bridge which takes you to a better health. It helps in reframing the way we look at the world and tackle the things at our disposal.

Self care is the keyword here. And yes, it is not really an expensive thing. You can surely uplift your spirit and nourish your soul without bringing any impact on your bank account.

So, here are some ways to practice self care when you are on the budget:

  • Connecting with people

Even the busiest soul can make time to connect with people they care for. In case a face to face catch up session seems difficult, a simple email, letter or a message on the various social media handles can convey that you care. This helps in developing your support system and makes you feel loved and valued. This way you become present in the lives of other important people. 

  • Exercise

The habit of exercising brings with it a plethora of benefits for both physical and mental health. In case a full fledged workout is not your cup of tea, consider going for a walk or a jog, as they can be equally refreshing. Start the exercise regime and become consistent in it. 

  • Spend time with Nature

Go out and take a walk around your apartment,or, simply sit in the greenery and see the sun shine through. Irrespective of where you live, you must be having access to the outside space. Going outside away from the devices helps in calming the nervous system and even negates the negative energy causing stress. 

  • Sleep

Often due to work priorities or any stress, sleep takes a back seat. But the absence of enough sleep jeopardizes everything, right from the mood to the immune system. The optimum sleeping hours vary from individual to individual, so, figure out yours and make a schedule to go to bed in time to complete the sleep. It is always advisable to minimise the screen time before going to sleep. 

  • Crank up the tunes

Music is an incredible healer and when the right melodies are played, the heart melts away  from worries and stress. So, humm, toe tap and get ready to groove and forget the business. Music can take you high and make you forget your stress levels. This is one of the best forms of self care. 

  • Mindful spendings

Don't fall into the 'should' and 'shouldn't' trap when it comes to making an expense, but, spend when you think is right. For this, it is important to budget correctly and spend mindfully by having a clarity of the income level. Having a clear mind on the amount of earnings can help you change the mindset on spendings and also avoid taking a short term loan for making the expenses. 

  • Health check-up

It's time to make certain health appointments, like a yearly health checkup and dental exam to ensure that everything is well inside. The full body checkup does come with a cost, but if you have an insurance policy, these checkups are covered under it and you may not be required to pay even a single penny.

To conclude, wellness space is not about spending excessive amounts of funds or availing a personal loan in the name of self care, as this way you may end up becoming more stressed. The whole idea is to practice self care which is consistent and cost prohibitive. Always remember, when life gets stressful, it's time to fall behind and self care!
