Newcastle dealership among the best for Motability care

A car dealership in Newcastle has received an award from the Motability scheme for its efforts in helping more people with mobility issues discover the freedom of driving.

 

Lookers Volkswagen Newcastle has been handed a Motability Dealer Award from the Motability car scheme as part of a programme of awards that recognise outstanding customer service.

 

The Dealer Awards take place quarterly and are judged by customer feedback as well as reviews of dealership performance. All winners of the quarterly awards are automatically entered into the national, annual awards which are announced at the beginning of the following year.

The Motability Scheme is operated by a registered charity and provides an affordable, worry-free way for people with disabilities to lease a car, scooter or powered wheelchair in exchange for their mobility allowance.

The Scotswood Road site has seen an increase in Motability sales over recent years, with 152 Motability cars sold to the end of August this year, compared to 111 at the same point in 2018, and 80 in the same period in 2017.

It’s an increase that Thomas McAlindon, General Manager at Lookers Volkswagen Newcastle, believes is down to an increased focus on Motability customers and their needs, with all seven of the site’s sales representatives trained as Motability experts, as well as an increased awareness of the scheme among the general public.

Mr McAlindon said: “We have seen a huge increase in enquiries from Motability customers that have either heard about the scheme for the first time or see us a trusted and expert provider. We are so proud to have received this award from Motability as it’s based 100% on customer feedback, which is what really matters to us.”

Lookers is currently celebrating its annual Motability Month, which sees the Motability Scheme take over much of the retailer's social media pages with case studies of its dealership specialists and features on the benefits of the scheme.
