New Strategies In The Business Of Consultancy

Top strategy consulting firms in India such as Infosys Ltd and Wipro Ltd are unable to sustain in more competitive market space. All these firms have failed to get recent contracts by big global corporations. The number of orders is also increasing constantly and strategy consultants in India are trying their best to cater more clients. The recent figures indicate that business consulting firms in India received $100 million in forms of annual revenues. Majority of businesses opted for information technology consulting to increase the efficiency of their businesses.

Cognizant Technology Solutions Corp, another IT giant listed on NASDAQ is also struggling to introduce new concepts and products in business. The company was known for innovative IT solutions in the industry. Perfect industry model was implemented by Accenture Plc, a strategy consulting company in India, few years ago and that helped many Indian businesses to grow. The unique business model is behind massive growth rate of Accenture Plc. for last five years. Even Cognizant Technology Solutions Corp.’s executive Vice president acknowledged this fact.  Today even Cognizant maintains strong force of 5400 member consulting team. The company started with modest number of 1,000 consultants back in 2008. These people are former EY and Deloitte employees, another outsourcing giants.

Cognizant’s management confirmed their ‘three in a box’ approach. For each large client, company appoints one client partner, delivery director and one consultant in India. The consultant takes care of improving current business operations and client partner manages operations part on the company’s side.  The consultants act as a software providers in this system. Consultancy organizational informs business superiors and they report back to the vice president. So the whole process ensures quality service.

Tata Consultancy Services Ltd, Wipro and Infosys are working on similar systems. Large corporations in the world were looking for simplified systems to manage their operations and this was response to that demand. The Indian players also thought about subcontracting the work to smaller domestic players. For top level consultants, the revenue from Back office and business process outsourcing doesn’t matter much. But for Indian IT firms, it is large chunk of business and revenue. There are many issues about team building too. Consultants and software engineers find it difficult to work together due to different backgrounds and mind sets. 

Consulting and package implementation gave $8.7 billion revenue to Infosys in last quarter. The other sources of revenue remain data analytics, mobility, socially enabled business process and cloud computing. IT firms are very much optimistic about the consultancy services.
