[NEW] Lighting Restrictions in Outdoor Areas, as Explained by Newport Beach Real Estate Attorneys
Section 20.30.070 of the Newport Beach Municipal Code establishes outdoor lighting standards for properties located within city limits.
The purpose of these standards is to reduce glare, light trespass, over lighting, sky glow, and promote safety and energy conservation.
When the property in question is deemed to be in or near a sensitive habitat, a photometric study may be required as part of a zoning application in order to avoid a negative impact to the surrounding land.
If light levels cause a negative impact on the surrounding area, measures may be required to reduce excessive light.
