Netflix’s Dark: Times We Felt Bad For Jonas

by Bella James Writer

The German series Dark has changed the entire concept of the television series on Netflix. The show’s complex sci-fi gripping mystery show has set high bars for TV shows. The plotline of the show is so complex and out of the world that fans felt the need to watch an episode twice and thrice to take the hints and understand what is going on.

Dark is a German sci-fi thriller television series co-created by Jantje Friese and Baran bo Odar. The show ran for three seasons, set in the fictional town of German, Winden. The first season of the show was released in 2017. The show is based on a child’s disappearance, which has a hidden connection within four families and the plot slowly unfolds time travel conspiracy. The series explores the effect of time travel and the existential implications of time. The second series released on 21 June 2019 and the third season released on 27 June 2020. The show is critically acclaimed and widely accepted by audiences.

The series revolves around the fictional city of German, Winden. When the children of the town start disappearing, it brings light to the double lives, fractured relationship, and dark past of the four families. The plot started in 2019, but the story-line spread in 1986 and 1953 via time travel. The characters soon discover the wormhole in the cave beneath the nuclear power plant.

The series flirts with the existence of Jonas Kahnwald, who is also a protagonist of Dark. The series has come to an end, and there are few times the fans felt terrible for Jonas.

The Only Solution Is Not It

The series is all about now and the past of characters, developing theories, and what might be the solution. Jonas always thought that he is the reason for all the problems, and only if he did not exist, none of this would happen. But when Jonas finds himself in the alternative reality and discovers that he doesn’t exist. Then the only thing he wants is to exist.

The Almighty Reveal

The first few episodes were prolonged and barely seemed to grow. The whole plot was revolving around the missing children, and people were pressuring police for the delay in the investigation. But then things get interesting after the biggest reveal related to Jonas. Jonas comes to know that his father Michael Kahnwald, who had committed suicide left a note for Jonas. And when Jonas read the letter, he was in absolute shock that his father was Mikkel Nielson. The latter is the son of Katharina and Ulrich. Mikkel traveled back into the past through the cave and grew to become Jonas’ father.

Stuck In The Future

When Jonas makes his way through the portal and reaches 2052, he finds out that he is stuck in that era. Because the only portal for time traveling that is available in the future is out of reach and overseen by Elizabeth Doppler. Although he found some way to the portal and got to know that there is no way he can stabilize it. During which Elizabeth caught him and almost killed him.
