2) Jewelers give a cut and shape according to the tone of the gem.

3) If the tone of the sapphire is low, the jeweler will cut the stone a bit steeply so as to give an illusion of a medium-dark gem.

4) Whereas if the tone of the gem is a dark one, he will cut it very shallow to mirage it like a cool-toned medium-colored blue gem.

5) The cut is usually done to make the stone reflect more and more light through it when seen from a tangent.

6) The refractive index of the sapphire identifies the crystal whether it is real or not. All sapphires of different colors give the same reading.

WEIGHT

1) Studies on the stones suggest that one carat of sapphire is slightly smaller than one carat of diamond.

2) Considering this fact, the price gurus quoted that price of the sapphire must be measured by its size rather than its weight.

3) It was established that one-carat blue sapphire stone is 6 mm.
