The season has come when people finally start heading to hill stations and plan their long vacations away from the heat and burning temperature of the city. With summers already into their first phase, it is high time you plan your vacations too. Since hill stations are the only prime choice that one would go for, it should, undoubtedly, be one of the beautiful small hilly towns of Uttarakhand.  Cities like Mussoorie and Nainital are the best option for a summer getaway into the hills

Nainital

Named after a major lake, the city of Nainital is popular for three major things - the lakes here, the grandeur of the natural beauty at this place and the third one is the mountains that surround this city, keeping it beautiful and cold even during the harsh warm summer months. Although this city, which was once a neglected hill station has developed a lot, some of the best services for tourists like the hotel in Nainital, the cafes and the breweries here are still quite affordable and no excessive taxes are levied.

Places to Visit

1.       Naina Devi Temple

Start off by paying a visit to the deity of the hills at the Naina Devi Temple, which is located on top of the Naina Hills. A lot of devotees’ swarm here every year, and if one believes the legends, the eyes of Goddess Sati, the wife of Shiva, had fallen here. The view from the temple is quite beautiful since it is at a height.

2.       The Mall Road

Like every old hill station in India, which was once under the control of British Army, even Nainital has a popular Mall Road here which is a market cum hub of the city where everything important takes place and all the major food joints, shops etc. are. That’s the reason why it is the busiest road in the town.

3.       Naina Lake

Naina Lake is among one of the most beautiful sites of interest in the city, and it is the lake after which the city has been named. The water here is clear and numerous activities like boating, paddling and yachting, etc. are done by the tourists here.

Since a lot of tourists frequent this place every year, there are some great facilities in the city specially incorporated for the visitors?  However, if you would like to stay at one of the best resorts in Nainital, you ought to make prior bookings since the place is usually over booked during summer months.
