Mumbai - The City of Dreams

by Manish Kumar Marketing Head

Visiting Mumbai is an experience in itself. The grand city was built under British occupancy is 1924 and many of the then made structures stand tall even today. Many of the good hotels in Mumbai are of that era too. Mumbai is the capital city of Maharashtra and known as the financial capital of the country. It is India’s largest city and is one of the most densely populated as well. Properly connected by the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International airport and a train route at the Victoria Terminus railway station, you will find many budget hotels near the airport as well as the railway station. front-view-of-ginger-mumbai-andheri-east.jpg

The main attraction of the tourists visiting the city all year long is Marine Drive, which is a 3.6 km long boulevard in south Mumbai. Its C shape gives a fantastic view of the Arabian sea. Just nearby is the Gateway of India, an arch made in the 20th century to commemorate the visit of the king and queen of the British Empire in India. Right beside the Gateway is a natural harbor which gives you an option to take a ferry ride to the Elephanta caves, which is a UNESCO world heritage site. It is located on an island, 2 km west of Jawaharlal Nehru Port. The cave system dates back to 5th and the 9th century. The rock-cut sculptures are dedicated to the Hindu God Shiva and also depict Buddhist iconography. The Mumbai film city is a well-visited place and may also land you a chance to see your favorite actors apart from their reel life.

It is very rightly said that this city never sleeps. Book a budget hotel near Mumbai airport, and set out to the Marine drive at night, take a walk in the cool breeze either alone or with your squad. The Juhu Chowpatty beach offers another place to wander around in the evening. Apart from that, there are several night clubs all over the city, some of the best ones are found in the Andheri East area. Some of these bars offer live music performances for music lovers. A late-night movie can also be enjoyed in some of the theatres.

People, these days, are ever ready for anything healthy and such an option is provided by midnight cycling tours which are also a very good way to explore the nightlife of the city. You seldom find Mumbai roads clear of traffic. It is at night when you get to enjoy driving at its best. Diving on the Worli sea link is such an opportunity. Many restaurants are open all night and provide the foodies with a way to enjoy a late-night meal.

Mumbai is a safe city 24 hours a day, you can go anywhere and leave all your worries in any of the good hotels in Mumbai. Street shopping is best experienced at Colaba Causeway and Linking Road. The shops sell everything ranging from junk jewelry to shoes, bags as well as fancy designer clothes.
