They say 'it is not the destination that matters, it is the journey'; especially when you are on an exciting road trip, dashing over a 6-way expressway and have a heap of your most cherished people for company. Even better, if that roadway is India's national highway number 1, that is, the NH 1, additionally called the foodie's heaven. So if this is the highway that you’re taking then, sir, you've just hit the jackpot! A flood of finger licking food delights await you.



The entire NH-1 is one course every voyager would simply love to take. Rather, a combination of a foodie and traveller would love to take this route. A few even make a special effort to enjoy the drool worthy desi food at the dhabas on NH-1 by paying a special weekend visit to these. Here's a rundown of the most famous dhabas that you can stop by whenever you are on a road trip to any of the cities that fall on the NH-1.



Sukhdev Dhaba, Murthal



You can't overlook this tasteful spot found just on GT Road, Murthal, NH-1. Murthal, a little town close to Sonepat and around 60 odd km from Delhi, has a flood of dhabas, however, it will be hard to beat this one. The dhaba has such an appeal and is such a hotspot among the Delhiites, particularly those families and youngsters from Delhi who are found driving down to this spot only for an eat out spree. This dhaba sees a swarm of cars parked outside its premises and a lot more in waiting, even post 12 am at night!



Zimidara Dhaba, Ludhiana



One of the only few dhabas in transit where you  would still be welcomed by a server who verbally renders the menu. While you are on your way to Ludhiana, and have got bored of the monotonously rolling Delhi to Ludhiana cab, then ask your driver to stop by this spot. This dhaba began as a veggie lover’s place, but now it has another space abutting the first which serves non-vegetarian food as well. Drop by for some great old delightful top choices of dal makhni and kadhai paneer amongst numerous others. Also, as a cherry on top, you get a large pitcher of buttermilk complementary along with your order. Make room in your tummy!



Pooran Singh Dhaba, Ambala



Reach Ambala Cantt and you will be stunned by the sheer number of Puran Singh dhabas looking at you, inviting you in, all claiming to be the real one. Yet, out of them, Puran Singh ka Mashoor Vishal Dhaba is acknowledged to be the one started by Puran Singh and later gained control by the man who used to offer him sheep and chicken. At this non-veg lovers’ paradise, you will lick your fingers off with their delightful imprint dishes – sheep curry, keema kaleji and chicken curry. You just can't cross Ambala without a stop here!



Lucky Dhaba, Jalandhar



Successfully running and empowering hungry adventurers since 1967, Lucky Dhaba has been a champion amongst the most predominant dhabas on the roadway crossing Jalandhar. Having encountered upgrade and now in a refined image with each front line enhancement, Lucky Dhaba has held its sustenance quality in place to such a degree, to the point that its promoters have been returning for over each one of these years. In spite of the solidified competition that the joint may be enveloped by, it has gripped its own specific just for the delectable delights and accommodation.
