Malta Permanent Residency
by XIPHIAS IMMIGRATION migration executiveMalta is one of the most beautiful islands
in the Mediterranean Sea. It is one of the smallest island nations in the world
although it is also the 8th most densely populated islands. The
island invites many tourists every year. The country invites foreign direct
investment into the country in exchange for the permanent
residency there. It is one of the many countries which allow residency
for foreign citizens which could eventually lead to citizenship in the country.
Malta has a stable economy and government.
The island has a stable climate all through the year. The country is good for
private residency. Malta over all is a relaxing country and the life style in
Malta is also pretty laid back allowing its residents and citizens to take
things at a slower pace.
Malta introduced its Malta
Residency and Visa program to allow direct foreign investments into the
country’s real estate. Such an investor will obtain European Union residency
Card with which the investor gets to travel to other places in Europe Visa
free. Such a card can be truly valuable for those who intend to study in Europe
or expand their business there or would want to work in Europe or visit places
there.
To be eligible for this program, the
investor will need to –
i.
Invest a minimum of Euro
250,000 in the Government bonds of Malta
ii.
Make a non-refundable
contribution of Euro 30,000
iii.
Purchase a property in Malta
worth Rs. 320,000 and more or lease a property for Euro 12,000 per annum. The
value of the property could vary if the investor decides to invest in South
Malta or Gozo.
iv.
The applicant should have a
personal net worth of Euro 500,000. They need to prove the same.
This program is more or less on the same
lines as that of Cyprus
Permanent Residency Program. With this visa in hand, the investor gets
to live in Malta indefinitely. He or she can make Malta their home. The visa is
granted for a period of 5 years and is renewable further. It requires that the
investor maintains the investment for a stipulated period of time. Eventually,
this program can lead to the applicant being eligible for citizenship of the
country. The investor can dispose the investment as would be needed post 5
years of maintaining the same.
This program allows the immediate family of
the main applicant to join them in obtaining the residency of the country.
However, the program does not require the successful immigrant to live in Malta
at any given point of time. They can maintain their residency without having to
visit the country, unlike the Portugal
Golden visa Program.
The program is pretty straight forward and the
application processing is simple. It requires you to submit the right
documents. The applicant will be submitting their application along with a
non-refundable deposit of Euro 5,500. The whole of the process would take a
period of 3 to 6 months to complete at the end of which you would receive
permanent residency of the country. The compliance of the program comes into
picture only after the Maltese Immigration authorities have done a background check
of the applicant.
