Making Greek salad – Give A Healthy Finish To Your Meal

Traditional Greek salads is made of many flavorful foods and some classic ingredients like  feta cheese, cucumbers, onions, fresh tomatoes, olive oil, parsley and olives. Typically, the recipes use many of the same ingredients, but the varieties available are incredibly versatile. The recipes also allow you to use a variety of different foods that you personally prefer. Depending on the type of salad that you are making, you can keep the variety of ingredients used to minimum or use as many as you like.
 
Making Greek salads at home can make you work a little extra. It tastes great if you use fresh vinaigrette for dressing, and it requires just a few ingredients. You need vinegar, olive oil, parsley, sea salt, freshly crushed garlic, feta cheese, oregano and a few tablespoons of fresh lemon juice. Transfer all the ingredients in a jar or bottle with a lid. Close the lid and shake well to mix them thoroughly. Use as required to improve the flavour of your salad. You can also use store bought variety, but it would not give expected flavour.

If you feel that the seasoning doesn’t come out as expected, you can vary the amount of ingredients used in your recipe adding more parsley, garlic or salt until it is customised to your likings. The flavour of salad comes from this dressing, so you can prepare it the way you like.

For making a simple salad, you need:

• A head of romaine lettuce

• One large cucumber

• A cup of Kalamata olives,

• A quarter cup of capers

• Four large tomatoes

• Four green onions

• One small red onion

• Eight ounces of crumbled feta cheese

Aside from greens, the salad can also pair deliciously well with lamb, juicy steaks (grilled or broiled) and a platter of pasta (boiled to perfection). Pasta salad is a great variation that is extremely delightful to your taste buds. In order to bring a tempting change, you can also consider a base of sliced red onions, fresh greens, Kalamata olives and tomato wedges.
