Lose Stubborn Fats With Fat Freeze Treatment

by Andy Cheng Director

What is fat freeze treatment?

Fat freeze treatment uses controlled cooling to drop the temperature of the skin down to the point where fat cells die. The cells will then be eliminated in the next few weeks when the other cells consume them and they will be passed out of the body through various means. This procedure does not harm the nerves or other tissues unlike surgical treatments like liposuction.

How is fat freeze treatment different from losing weight through exercise or dieting?

Our body typically contains a fixed number of fat cells. This number does not change through exercise or dieting. The fat cells just gets smaller. The number remains the same, but the size of each varies. That is why there are areas of your body where you find “stubborn fats” so difficult to get rid of. The fat cells will grow bigger again when you start gaining weight.

Fat freeze treatment solves this problem by eliminating the fat cells completely instead of just making them smaller. The number of fat cells in treated areas are reduced by about 20% - 25%. As untreated areas are not affected, your body can be sculpted to the desired look. Treated fat cells are permanently gone. Even at the same weight, you will look thinner than before.

How is the treatment done?

After an initial assessment, the targeted area will be marked. A film of gel pad will be placed on the area to protect the skin from cold burns. The probe is then used to bring the temperature of the targeted area down to within freezing temperature. You may feel a slight discomfort in the beginning of the treatment but you will get used to it after a while. The area being treated will typically become numb within 5-10 minutes. The treatment takes about 60 minutes to complete.

What happens after treatment?

After the treatment you may feel a tingling sensation when the affected area is massaged for 2-3 minutes.

The post-treatment care is just as important as the treatment itself to get the best results. Our nurse therapists are trained to provide our proprietary post-treatment care so that the fat cells can be removed more quickly by your body and also to reduce any lumpiness or bruising on the skin that may occur during treatment. You may start to see changes as soon as 3 weeks after treatment but the full results will take a few months to show up depending on your body’s reaction to the treatment. You should expect the full results by the second or third month.

Side effects of fat freeze treatment

Side effects may include temporary redness, bruising, itching, firmness and swelling. These will heal within a matter of a few days.

Because a probe is being used for the treatment, this is a procedure that is not skill-dependent and there is a risk of uneven removal. However, with proper post-treatment care, any lumpiness or bruising will be reduced.
