by Maryam Saeeda Education

Once you decide to move to any place outside, be it Dubai or any other city with your family, there are always numerous questions on your mind. The most important ones among them, especially if you have children, is looking out for the best schools in the city. Now, if you have to look at Dubai schools, there are several excellent educational institutions around the city, and the following are considered to be among the best. A couple of them have been awarded the highest rating of ‘Outstanding’ by the Knowledge & Human Development Authority (KHDA), and offer an internationally accepted and accredited curriculum while being located in the most accessible areas.

  1. Global Indian International School Dubai (Meydan)

Here is an international school in Dubai that works in high favour of both Dubai students and Indian students. The fee here is between 15,000 and 18,000 Dirhams annually, making this international school one that has pretty low fees in comparison to the other top schools. GIIS is a school that is growing every day and spreading across the globe. Currently, it has campuses across 7 countries which are Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, the UAE, India and Thailand. Even across India, there are multiple campuses located across Bangalore, Pune, Ahmedabad and Noida. A major point to keep in mind is that this is a rare school because it has the CBSE curriculum even in Dubai and this becomes a major breather for students from India.

Apart from this, the pedagogical methods used by GIIS are quite modern and are structured in order to measure the growth in a very practical manner. GIISfollows 9GEMS Holistic Development Framework that improves the students by focusing on  9 different aspects- Academic excellence, Sports excellence, Visual & Performing arts, Personality Development, Innovation & Creativity, Entrepreneurship & Leadership, Universal values & Ethics, Community & Care and Skill Development. It is followed to improve the personality of every student in a wholesome manner.

  1. Dubai International Academy

Comprising a student body with more than 80 nationalities, DIA follows the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum and offers both primary and secondary education. It is divided into three programs - Primary Years, Middle Years and Diploma. The academic mettle of DIA is among the best in the region, and the major chunk of its students get accepted into renowned universities such as Princeton and Yale. The school lays focus on a well-rounded education program, along with a motley of extra-curricular options, including an Eco Club, an MUN (Model United Nations), music, art and sport clubs.

Coming under the best schools in Dubai, the fees here vary depending on the grade. Annual Fees starts at 40,000 Dirhams for KG and goes up to 72,000 Dirhams for Year 13. There is also a 4,500 Dirhams fee for ESL (English as a Second Language) students who need additional support for English in school.

  1. Gems Wellington International School

Gems Wellington is part of the bigger Gems Education Group and is one of its better known schools. The school follows a GCSE and IGCSE based curriculum upto Year 11 which is followed by an International Baccalaureate Diploma program in Years 12 and 13. The students here have maintained the standards pretty high by getting accepted into universities such as Cambridge and Stanford. Students here benefit from the presence of a dedicated guidance team in order to choose their IB courses. They are also catered by a University Guidance Counsellor who can advise them on further studies. The school also takes part in the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award, a youth award that encourages students to set goals and challenges for themselves to nurture personal growth. Annual tuition fee at Wellington is based on grade or Year level. It starts at around 40,000 Dirhams for FS 2 students and at around 90,000 Dirhams for Year 13 students.
