London’s new Gastronome venues
London certainly is not short of attractions to visit and places to explore. From the medieval to the modern there are numerous landmarks and iconic attractions to sightsee. All of these aspects make it one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world. With millions of tourists arriving in the city every year it certainly is the most popular and visited city in the United Kingdom.
London is divided into districts, with Notting Hill that lies in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea being a popular tourist site. It is conveniently located in the inner west part of London with many travel options to Notting Hill. A great place to stay when in London is The Montcalm at the Brewery London City, a 5 star luxury hotel that is just about 6 miles from Notting Hill and its many attractions. London certainly is one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the world and this is reflected in its arts, culture and of course delectable cuisine. Some great new places that are going to open for fine dining are:
The Wright Brothers, South Kensington
The Wright Brothers, South Kensington will open for customers also on the 1st of September, 2015. They are certainly masters when it comes to sea food with this being their fifth restaurant, located in chic area of South Kensington. Its stylish interiors will have floor-to-ceiling windows and a hearth, which would give it a snug feel of a stately country home. The seafood cuisine is inspired from Parisian bistros that serve similar fares. Its Chef de cuisine is Philip Coulter who has served with the Wright Brothers at their Oyster & Porter House in Borough Market. The menu will be seasonal, predominantly British with a subtle hint of French influence. Visitors can expect to feast on some of the finest and freshest British sea food in montcalm London which will come from places like Cornwall, Dorset, Scotland, Boulogne and Portugal. The cuisine will include dressed oysters, grilled lobster with parsley and garlic butter and herring roes on toast among other sumptuous offerings. For those who fancy a tipple there is the independent cocktail and oyster bar with its own entrance, The Mermaid to enjoy a few drinks. A great selection of cocktails and wines will be served with a selection of oysters and an assortment of bar snacks.
Brasserie Blanc Threadneedle Street
The Brasserie Blanc at Threadneedle Street will reopen for customers on 3rd September, 2015. It is a part of the chain of restaurants created by TV chef Raymond Blanc, who brings his Gaulish influence to this fine dining restaurant. There are several branches of Brasserie Blanc, in other UK cities like Leeds, Bristol, Cheltenham and Chichester. The Brasserie Blanc in London is located in the centre of the city in what was the former Stock Exchange. With its brand new design that features a classic oak-weathered table near the bar, wallpaper panels, vintage French mirrors and olive leather seating that perfectly complements its oak tables. The menu is seasonal that changes four times in the year (in sync with the seasons of course). Visitors can expect to enjoy an interesting selection of French cuisine from its a-la-carte menu. Under the 'Les Classiques' section expect to feast on escargots, juicy bourguignon, steak tartare and much more. Raymond Blanc’s apt reply to be being asked what a Brasserie Blanc is stated, “if the Manoir is a delicate waltz, then the Brasseries are the Can Can". While the food may not be of the same epicurean class as is to be found at Blanc’s Oxfordshire country house hotel, the Michelin starred Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons, it certainly would be very enjoyable at a very affordable price.
Vico:
Vico is scheduled to open on 1st September 2015 and it is the creation of Jacob Kennedy and Victor Hugo. The two had already made a mark on the London culinary scene in 2008, with their award winning restaurant Bocca di Lupo, which offered authentic Italian cuisine in the heart of London. This was followed up with Gelupo in 2010, which offered the finest of classic gelateria and delicatessen. This year in 2015 we hope to relive the same levels of taste and service with Vico, which has been described as an "inexpensive and intensely casual" Italian food restaurant. Vico is ideally situated at One Cambridge Circus, Seven Dials and is touted to be the place for Gelupo gelato and affordable Italian street food set amidst an atmosphere of an Italian piazza. Its co-owner and chef Jacob Kennedy has the onus of creating the dishes at the 'piazza-eria', which will mainly feature street food that could be found in Italy. Freshly cooked dishes will include arancini, fried Mediterranean seafood, polpette and torte salate among other tranches of dishes. Do not expect to find a formal menu as the dishes are created as per seasonal produce with in-house wine, beer and spritz among refreshments. The drinks certainly complement the food in all aspects. Like Bocca di Lupo, the Vico will have a large Gelupo counter at its front, which will serve delicious cakes, iced desserts and fried desserts. Vico is more informal than its other two counterparts, which is seen in its breezy design and minimal seating arrangements.
