Listening Section of the PTE: Multiple choice, Choose multiple answers

by Arpita Shah Seo Executive

You will be instructed to listen to a PTE Academic recording, following which you will have to answer a question with multiple choices. Like the moon which lights up the night sky has its bright side and dark side, this subsection of the PTE bears some good news as well as bad news. The good news is that the answers to your question will come alive if you pay attention to the recording. The bad news is that you will be negatively marked if you get the answers wrong. So, here are some tips to get your answers right:

Note down important details:

You will have a brief pause of 7 seconds to read the question before the recording begins. Understand the question and prepare yourself to jot down important points. Even if you’re extremely well-versed in the language, it is beneficial to follow this advice since the recording will not issue the answers in order. The advantage of jotting down points is the reduced onus of having to recollect the recording in its entirety while going through the set of PTE Academic India responses.

Match meanings, not words for PTE Academic:

While listening to the recording, it is only natural to streamline your concentration for keywords in the list of responses. Though this isn’t a futile technique, it isn’t completely fool proof. Your notes will once again assist you in choosing the right PTE answers, since you will have written material to match meanings and not words. You will also have to pay special attention to frequency words such as many, few, only, none etc.

This type of testing is definitely more competent than IELTS. To receive a discount on your PTE Voucher, visit your nearest AECC Global office to buy a PTE Voucher. The discounted price will empty your wallet of Rs.9810, which is around Rs.1500 lesser than the cost of IELTS.
