Linda Kozlowski opens up about divorce from Paul Hogan

Hogan left his wife soon after meeting Kozlowski, and after finalising his divorce in 1990 the pair married the same year and now have a 15-year-old son, Chance.

Kozlowski, 56, filed for divorce in October 2013 citing "irreconcilable differences", and their divorce was finalised in July this year.

In the settlement, 74-year-old Hogan retains all the rights to his Crocodile Dundee character and the film company, while Linda Kozlowski walked away with a cool one-off payment of $6.25 million.

Neither will pay child or spousal support, and they will share custody of their son Chance.

Kozlowski is also allowed to stay in their Los Angeles home for four years or until she remarries – whichever comes first.

The former actress says the main problem in their marriage was their lack of shared interests.

"Honestly, we just naturally grew apart," said Kozlowski.

"One of our problems was we really had nothing in common and, over time, that happens to a lot of people."

Hogan told the Sunday Telegraph last year they had somehow managed to make their marriage work despite their differences.

"We were opposites and we were attracted to each other for a long time. Opposites in everything," Hogan said.

"From the food we ate, the music we liked, the entertainment we liked, the colours, the clothes, the places, everything, It worked anyway."

The actor said the marriage simply ended because it became 'worn out'.

"It was 20 wonderful years, two or three that were sort of like worn out," he said.

"I'm very flighty – a woman lasts for about a quarter of a century and then they get bored with me."

However, Hogan said the then impending divorce was certainly not a sign that his marriage to Kozlowski, who is 19 years his junior, had failed.

"How can you 'fail' after a quarter of a century," Hogan said. "Failed marriages are when two people stay together even though they have long ago lost interest."

Kozlowski told New Idea she remains close to her former Crocodile Dundee co-star.

"The divorce was completely amicable. We talk on the phone all the time, I go over and have coffee. We're completely friendly. Everybody's happy."

Her last job as an actress was the 2001 Crocodile Dundee in Los Angeles. At the time, she said she was sick of being cast in straight-to-television movies.

However, with a new business venture in the works Kozlowski says she is happy to be able to spread her newly independent wings.

"Actors obviously don't want to be in the shadow, they want to be in the light, so I feel really good right now, really positive."
