LED Pole Lights: The Future of Smart Cities

by William M. Digital Marketing Executive

It is a good idea to note all your requirements while planning for outdoor lighting. Prepare a map and install the poles at even distances to create a consistent outdoor lighting experience. Choose the pole fixtures which complement the outdoor lighting area.

LED pole lights have revolutionized the way people socialized and conducted business. They are evolving and getting enhanced with innovative technologies nowadays.

GPS enables these poles to interact with smartphones to deliver the direction required or the amount of traffic on a specific highway to the vehicle. Let’s discuss some of the essential factors associated with LED lighting.

Which material is best for LED Pole Lights?

Steel poles are more durable and can support heavier loads such as fixtures, brackets, and other accessories.  The disadvantage is steel poles will rust over time, resulting in higher maintenance expenditures. Steel poles have a 15-30 year average lifespan, depending on the natural weather conditions and the suitable polish used for these poles.

Aluminum is more corrosion-resistant than steel. As a result, aluminum poles have the potential to last longer and require less maintenance. However, because aluminum isn't the most robust material, such poles aren't suitable for high-wind areas and extreme weather conditions.

In recent years, fiberglass has become the most widely used option in outdoor applications. These fixtures are lightweight and easy to install.

Height and foundation

Foundation - For a pole under 18 feet, a decent thumb rule is the sizing for the concrete base is 3 feet down x 4 feet wide. Then, for every 5 feet above that height, add 1 foot in both directions. Before beginning your project, always check local codes and concrete guidelines.

Height - Large parking lots often utilize 25-foot poles to offer plenty of brightness, whereas sports field lighting starts typically at 40 feet (and more) to avoid uneven brightness for spectators and participants. Lighting surveys are commonly carried out to establish the best mounting height, fixture layouts, and lumens requirement for a given region.

Conclusion

Out of the many features, these are the core requirements that need to take care of while planning the outlay of outdoor lights. LED  pole lights require a good investment, so choose wisely.
