Laws Related To Getting Glass Fence Sydney Installed In NSW

by Mark W. Glass Fencing Sydney
The people of Sydney and not just Sydney, but from throughout the nation is crazy behind getting a property that has a swimming pool attached to it. The government has no objection on this and they say that no action would be taken against the homeowners if they have got their poolside fenced for the safety of that area. This brings different kinds of fencing into action and out of all of them; glass fencing has been the most preferred.

Getting a glass fence Sydney is not enough and experts say that any action under the law could be taken if the glass fence Sydney is not in compliance with the local laws and regulations. Therefore, we have come up with a post where you will get information regarding key pool fence measurements to following NSW or Sydney.

In NSW –

  • The glass fencing should be at least 1.2 meters high after measuring it from the ground level.
  • There should be no gap at the bottom of the installation that is bigger than 10 cms.
  • If the boundary fencing is attached to the pool’s fence, the boundary fencing should be at least 1.8 meters high from the ground level.
  • There should be no gaps of more than 10cms between any vertical bars in the fence.
  • If there are climbable horizontal bars, they should have a space of at least 90 cms between them.
  • If you are using perforated or mashed barriers, the holes in this should not be bigger than 13 mm and the fence height should be 1.2 meters.
  • The pool fence must be well-maintained and in good working order.

Non-Climbable Zone

  • Whether you get glass fence Sydney or any other kind of fence, you need to make sure that there is a non-climbable zone around the poolside area.
  • This means that there should be no trees, shrubs or any other objects such as a barbeque, pot plants, toys, ladders and chairs within the 90cms of the non-climbable zone.
  • This zone should be measured in arch shape from the top of the glass fencing, arching below, towards the ground.
  • The space of around 30 cms should be cleared of any potential footholds or handholds that can be used by kids to cross from the top of the glass fence Sydney.

Child-Resistant Doors And Windows:

If you have a door that forms part of a pool barrier:

  • You need to make sure that it closes by itself and does not require any manual force.
  • Ensure that the latching device used in glass fencing is at least 150cm off the ground.
  • The gate to has a non-climbable zone with all the features discussed above.
  • The gate should not open towards the pool and the glass fencing should not have any pet gate.
  • You need to make sure that the pool gate is always kept shut.

Pool fence and gate maintenance:

  • All fence bolts, screws, and fasteners must be tight and in good order.
  • Any loose bolts, screws, and fasteners should be tightened or replaced.
  • Self-closing gate hinges, locks, and latches should be sprayed with lubricating oil.
