The average number of car crashes per year in the United States involving accidents that are non-fatal comes in at a very high number of 5,400,000 accidents. The average number of fatal car crashes that occur each day is 80 people. That number comes in after extensive research done on statistics per year. If you were to take that 80 and multiply it by the number of days per year, that number, 29,200 would be lower than the number of last year’s car crashes. With auto accident law enforcement agencies reeving up their research, more people are being saved per year by laws being passed to prevent such accidents and with the help of education, more people are saved by providing individuals with this information.

In the year 2014, there were 30,057 car crashes where people died. That number, although high is much lower than the years previous. For instance, in 2006, there were 38,648 fatalities in car crashes. What has happened that makes that number dwindle you ask? Let’s go over those facts.

.       Less People in the Fast Lane

The fast lane, the middle lane of most interstates and roads are being used less than they used to be. More people are using the end lanes as a means to travel because if you are in the middle lane, you are more apt to be hit from drivers who are changing lanes rapidly. If you are in the middle lane, you are more likely to be stopped by a police officer as well.

2.      Lessons Learned: Drivers Being Taught to Keep Their Eyes On What is Going on Ahead of Them

More people are being shown that they must pay attention to what is going on in front of them instead of what is immediately in front of them. By scanning the traffic in front of you, you are able to stop quicker, safer and expect what happens immediately in front of you instead of slamming on the brakes and stopping causing a multiple car accident.

3.      More Car Companies Recall Their Cars for Glitches in Their Vehicles

There are more accidents on the road that are caused by drivers instead of glitches involving car manufacturers. In recent years, there are more lawsuits involving car manufacturers because of problems that were encountered due to the car rather than because people were careless on the road. There are still people who are careless on the road and that cannot be stopped, however the number of cars on the road that have problems can be prevented. When a car experiences a problem due to fault in the production of the car, the car manufacturer hears about it and checks out their vehicles. In many cases, a recall will be issued and people who own the car will take their car back to the dealer where the car is repaired and parts exchanged for working parts are put in. This helps to eliminate accidents by fault or negligence of the manufacturers which makes the cars on the road safer.

These are the main reasons that there are less accidents on the road today than there were ten years ago. By raising better drivers, safer drivers and safer cars, the ability to cut back on the number of fatal crashes occurs. With that statistic, the new year, 2016 should mean that even less people will die from car accidents and auto accident law injuries will be less as well.
