Know The IELTS Exam Pattern & Eligibility Criteria

IELTS is an English proficiency exam for students who want to study abroad. International English Language Testing System (IELTS) was established in 1989 and managed by the British Council, IDP. This exam is accepted by many foreign countries for the students who want to pursue their further studies abroad.

This exam is conducted to check the excellence of the students in speaking, writing, reading, and listening. It helps the student to have proper access to the English language. This exam is compulsory in few countries like Australia, Canada, UK, New Zealand, and the USA. The exam is necessary for the student who wants to study abroad or for the immigration process.

Every year thousands of students apply for the IELTS exam. But for this exam, no passing score has been required. They will scorecards from the range between 1 to 9 in which 1 is a non-user and 9 is an expert user. The exam is conducted through the online mode where the total duration of the exam is 2.45 Hours. 

IELTS Exam Pattern

It is an English proficiency test that helps the student to get certification in their efficiency of the English language. The IELTS exam pattern has four segments: reading, writing, listening, and speaking. The total duration of the exam is 2 hours 45 minutes. For the reading and writing segment, it is 60 minutes for each, and for listening it is 30 minutes and for speaking it has almost 15 minutes for the exam.

To appear in the IELTS exam the minimum age of the candidate should be 16 years but there is no upper age limit for the exam. For the IELTS exam eligibility depends only on the age of the candidate there are no other criteria for the student to appear in the exam.
