Mechanical watches

Mechanical watches suffer from a "grandpa watch" image among the general public. And yet, there are many innovative designs among this type of watches (sometimes too futuristic even!). However, for quality you need to aim the luxury brands. Exit therefore the Russian mechanical watches, from Eastern Europe or elsewhere! Indeed, they are manufactured with low quality steels and the design makes the parts mesh badly between them .They are easily breakable and will sometimes be irreparable.

Today, buying a quality mechanical watch that will give you style requires therefore a high budget: more than €1,000 to purchase. It is also necessary to take into account the maintenance cost: a complete maintenance every 3 to 5 years maximum will be around £500 to £3,000 (or even more) in the luxury brands. And I'm not even talking about the waiting list which is really long.

An automatic watch is equipped with a set of parts called "automatic module" which allows the watch to be charged ("to restore energy to the motor") according to the movements of the wrist during the day. We put the watch down before going to bed, and normally we take her the next morning and she still works. No need recharge it unless it has been worn for a few hours / days (depending on the watch's power reserve). We must move so that it works! A hand-wound watch must be wound up daily for it to work. Just turn the crown (it takes less than a minute in the morning and evening) to give energy to the watch. An automatic watch therefore offers an undeniable advantage and a comfort of use for not much more expensive than a watch with manual winding.

Quartz watches (or "battery-powered"),

Quartz watches have a significant advantage over mechanical watches: they are ultra-precise. The quartz movement, even Chinese at less than £10, remains more accurate than the high-end movement at £50 000. You can look for the Vivienne Westwood watch sale for more affordable ones.

Another good point: we find the correct ones in all ranges: from 50 to 500 £, you have a range of choices really wide. The budget is therefore more affordable and the maintenance consists of a mere change of battery that will cost you 10 £ (we sometimes change the whole movement, then costs 20 to 100 £). Beware though that in the luxury brands it is a complete review that will be charged to you, then count at least 300 £ or even much more.
