Know About the All New Yamaha MT 15

by Radha Lakshmi Blogger

Perhaps because of the musical instruments, it is known for, Yamaha conjured up a symphony of motorcycles for the Indian market. The latest music it has created is the Yamaha MT 15 motorcycle that is sweet music to bike aficionados. Yamaha stands for many things and one of them is to create excitement in whatever they do. The MT 15 does just that – create excitement. Let’s see what this new bike stands for.

The Yamaha MT 15

The Yamaha MT series is appropriately labelled ‘MT,’ which is an acronym for ‘Master of Torque.’ Yamaha believes that mastering torque by concentrating on it leads to agility. Coupled with this is the hyper naked style exemplified by the almost vertical forks leading to a wide handle, the petrol tank that resembles a sphere and the tail that is raised, fins on the radiator and front winglets. All these count for an exceptional riding experience.

The Engine

The MT 15 is fitted with a 155cc liquid-cooled 4V SOHC FI engine that delivers 19.3ps at 10000rpm and 14.7 Nm at 8500rpm. Yamaha talks about uniqueness in their bikes and one such unique feature is the Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) system that allows the engine to provide torque even at a low rpm. VVA is accomplished by using two intake valve cams out of which one handles high rpm and the other handles mid-range and lower rpm enabling torque at any point in the rpm range. The VVA system helps the bike to accelerate from 0 to 60kmph in just 3.78 seconds, perhaps the fastest in its class giving the rider a taste of the acceleration the bike is capable of.

Transmission

The 6-speed transmission is designed to cruise even at low rpm and higher gears conserving fuel to give better fuel efficiency. The transmission offers quick and frequent shifting of gears without affecting fuel efficiency. An assist and slipper clutch feature helps the driver to shift into lower gears during deceleration with minimal stress and smooth downshifting.

Brakes

The MT 15 boasts front and rear disc brakes with single channel ABS that ensure efficient braking with no skidding at any speed. What is more, the bike is stable on any surface, even on slippery ones.

Lights

The bi-functional LED headlights allow lighting up any dark street as clear as day. The high and low beams are integrated in a single unit. Another unique feature from Yamaha!

The raised tail allows the placing of a LED tail light that can warn people behind about the MT 15 in front of them. The placement of the rear light in a raised setting enhances the aesthetic appeal of the MT 15.

Digital display

Yet another unique feature is the reverse LDC digital display instrument cluster in an easy-to-see and read format that provides continuous information on speed, rpm, and gear shift and fuel level besides an ABS warning lamp. The odometer displays a variety of information on a need to know basis such as Fuel-trip, Trip1, Trip2 and clock.

Chassis

The frame is a Deltabox design that means more rigidity than a square box. The suspension is in the care of front telescopic forks and rear swingarm. Tyres are tubeless.

Accessories

The MT 15 comes with a host of accessories. They include

·       Tank pad

·       Seat cover

·       Tandem footrest

·       Skid plate

·       USB charger

·       Mobile holder

·       Polo shirts

·       Sticker

·       Key chain

The MT 15 is a fantastic bike to own and as Yamaha wants you to ‘Express your Dark Side’ it is definitely a bike to show your dark side but in a good way only on the road.

The MT 15 is priced at a challenging Rs. 1,35,000. If you find it difficult to fund your bike purchase, then there is always approach Tata Capital for a two-wheeler loan in India. A bike loan is easy to avail with hardly any effort and you can expect quick approval and even quicker disbursal if you satisfy its two-wheeler loan eligibility criteria.
