by Czarina R. Content Manager and SEO

Let us go deep and take a look at the types of keywords that are product defining for your ecommerce website:

#1. The first of these types of keywords is what we call "Market segment" keywords.

These types of keywords are generic keywords associated with an industry or brand.  We often associate these keywords with broad "niche" purposes.

What are niche keywords?

Niche keywords are the highly specific keywords that pertain to a narrow industry vertical. It's important to optimize your site and your pay-per-click campaigns for niche keywords and not just broad, popular terms, which are often too difficult to rank for, especially as a new venture.

#2. The second of these types of keywords that you will have to discover are keywords that are customer defined.

Customer defined keywords are search phrases that identify a specific type of customers or audience.  Targeted audience like children, for men, or women, like so. In these searches, customers use words or phrases to identify themselves in their searches.

Keywords like "sweat shirt for men" are a good example of user defined keywords. Another one is "cannabis oil for sleep disorder". "Ecommerce module for SEO" is also a good user defined keywords if you are into the ecommerce website marketing niche.

#3. The third type of keywords that you will have to discover are keywords that takes the name of your product.

This one is easy to understand, would you agree?

What are product keywords?

Product keywords are terms related to specific brand models. These types of keywords are phrases that directly reference a products or services. Here is a really good product keywords for a tennis racket, "Graphene 360 Tennis Racket".

Companies who are BIG on seo uses keyword strategy for each of their products and services so customers and prospects can find their offerings through search. Product keywords like "Long Sleeve Athletic Fleece Sweatshirt" is an excellent example. Another really good example of a product keyword is "Running Shoes Air Zoom".

Good branded keywords contains the name of the brand along with the name of the product type, product name, or another descriptive search phrase. Here is an example, "Bench sweat shirt for men" and "Nike Running Shoes Air Zoom". Notice that each of these keywords contain the name of the brand plus the targeted product keywords.

#5. The last of these types of keywords that you need to discover for your ecommerce website is called geo-targeted keywords.

Geo-targeted keywords are simple keywords that targets audiences in certain specific location. Keywords like "london sweat shirts" or "los angeles basketball shoes" are good examples of location-based keywords for your ecommerce website.

If your ecommerce website is selling worm feeds for example, and you are located in Denver, Colorado - you can do "denver worm chow".  Location-based keywords are fantastic keywords to do SEO because it targets customers on a locale where your store might be located.

What's next?

After choosing your keywords don't forget to monitor them and analyze the results. There are often trending keywords or phrases, along with new keywords your competitors may be using.

The one mistake you don't want to make is to relax and surrender all your hard work to chance.

Utilize your keywords wherever possible and as often as you need to! Insert your keywords into blog posts, social media posts and your website's content. The more you use keywords within your content, the easier it will be for your target audience to find you.
