Key Tips to Follow after an Upper Eyelid Surgery MD

by Sarah Morris Consultant
Slow build up of fat along the upper and lower regions of the eyelids is the most significant factor behind impacting one’s appearance. These fat deposits are also found to impair vision because the eyelids may be subjected to drooping due to gravitational force.

Recent advances in cosmetic surgery offer a very safe and effective solution by leveraging laser technology. The surgery is called as blepharoplasty in medical jargon and is a highly sought-after option by people who wish to deal with the common issue of drooping eyelids due to ageing.

There are a few reputed cosmetic clinics that can be trusted for successful upper eyelid surgery MD. Usually, these procedures are performed along with other cosmetic surgeries involving the face, such as chin surgery, cheek implants, micro peels, and other facelift procedures, to name a few.

Basic insights

Whenever you are going to consider a cosmetic surgery including an upper or lower eyelid lift MD, it is recommended to gather some basic information about the surgery and recovery while getting back to your normal routine.

The most important consideration before undertaking any cosmetic surgery is to have realistic expectations because people tend to get carried away by marketing gimmicks and flashy advertisements of cosmetologists.

You can definitely look forward to an improved appearance post any cosmetic surgery but should never expect total transformation. Anybody can go for an upper or lower eyelid lift MD, provided he or she is healthy and mentally stable to undergo such a procedure. Secondly, it should be borne in mind that all surgeries are associated with some degree of uncertainty.

Eyelift surgeries are generally considered by men and women who are thirty-five years plus. This surgery may, however, be performed if an individual is younger and feels that the drooping eyelids are cause for concern in terms of their appearance.

Key things to remember

Complications are extremely rare following an eyelid surgery and can be easily dealt with by your surgeon who will recommend medicines such as antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs.

Initially, you may experience blurring of vision accompanied by swelling. This will be limited to a few days and resolve by itself in most cases. If any white heads persist following stitch removal, your cosmetologist will help you by removing these with a fine needle.

The inconvenience of closing eyes may be felt by a few patients while sleeping. This is also a very uncommon complaint and will not be permanent. Although you will require some time to get back to your normal daily routine, this is essential for the swelling to subside naturally.

In conclusion

You will have to wait for fifteen days or so for your eyelids to get back to normal after your upper eyelid surgery MD.  It is advised that the patient should not expose himself or herself to sunlight for prevention against damage due to UV radiations.
